When summer weather starts approaching (let’s face it, in Texas that can even be in March!), I get excited about the return of certain things. Winter is all about layers and boots, but summer is all about freedom for your skin!
Last year I shared with you one of my favorite summer memories. I still love remembering those days as a kid. I lived for summer!
Even though I don’t really have a summer like you do when school is out, it is still an exhilarating time of year!
There are five favorite things I love about summer weather and I look forward to every. single. year.
1. FLIP FLOPS!
I would actually love to be barefoot 24/7, but that isn’t very acceptable, so flip flops are the next best thing. I love getting wear them all the time with my toes painted! So much better than binding cold weather shoes (although when fall arrives I get excited about that lol).
2. SHORTS!
Another item I could live in for the rest of my life. I live in shorts! When I was young, I started wearing shorts the minute it was slightly warm enough. In Texas, it is shorts weather more times than not, but it is definitely my favorite!
3. TANK TOPS!
I love wearing tank tops when it is hot. Especially for working out in. In the summer, I just wear them all the time and never have to worry about changing into something warmer after a work out. So nice!
4. COLD TREATS!
Give me all the iced coffee (like this hazelnut chocolate one or my caramel frappuccino!), iced tea, snow cones, popsicles (like these cold brew pops!), and frozen yogurt! I love it all!! As a kid, the greatest summer joy was hearing the sound of the snow cone truck coming through the neighborhood! I knew summer was here the minute I heard that noise!
The drink above is my favorite green tea lemonade I make all the time. Recipe was on snapchat (add me username alexisroch) last month, but I will be featuring it in my next newsletter too which is all about LEMON! Lemon and summer definitely go hand in hand.
5. SUNGLASSES!
Everyone that knows me, knows I love my sunglasses. I have gotten better over the years, but I used to have a slight addiction to buying them. Anything that was cute or unique, I would snatch it up. I was digging through some old facebook photos a few weeks and couldn’t believe how many different sunglasses I have worn in the last ten years lol.
Over the years, I have really stuck with aviator style sunglasses because they are so comfortable and fit so good. I have a cloudy day pair that aren’t very dark, an old pair that are for working outside, and a nice pair for everything else. I just got these firmoo aviators and I am loving them! They fit my head perfectly and look good with everything!
They also came with a super cute glasses hard case, which is a must for me because I break so many pairs in my purse (and Ruger is addicted to chewing on them too!).
Firmoo also has regular glasses which is another thing I am always on the lookout for. I have the hardest time finding cute glasses that fit well! Does anyone else have that problem? I feel like so many of them hurt my nose, so I am always trying out new brands.

I know what you mean! I wear them year round too…but I like to switch them up for each season…even though they all do the same thing lol. It’s just fun to change it up!

So much to love about summer and the warmer weather which is why my heart gets so sad when everyone starts rushing fall mid-way through the summer. The funny thing is most of those people complain about the cold and how much they miss summer just a few weeks/months into fall and winter. I always tell everyone to soak up and enjoy every last drop of the extra sunlight, flip flops, beach days, grilling nights, and outdoor time <3

I completely agree! I always get excited for fall mainly because the summer heat stays up around 100 degrees even until Halloween. It gets so old…but I love when it is a nice warm temperature in the 80s and low 90s…that I love for sure! I like to try and just enjoy each season, just as it is and not rush too much 🙂

All these make me crave summer. Although this week with high 80’s it is feeling it sooner than I anticipated. We are in need of a little rain in these parts. I know your weather has been C R A Z Y!!! SUNglasses…a must here too! Can’t be without them especially with the RA issues with my eyes.

Yes! I can’t wait for all of that; spring is taking it’s sweet time up here in the north and while I’ve worn my flip flops my toes are freezing!
We always get warm weather pretty quick this time of year which I love…but then around November I am dying for it to cool down a little! I am always jealous of the weather that time of year in the north lol! I hope your spring comes to you soon 🙂

Such a fun post! I too am a Texan and totally get alot of the things you talked about! I too love sunglasses and also used to have a slight addiction (such as having multiple pairs in every vehicle, as well as sunglasses hidden in multiple places in my house).
Yes!!! I have them all over the place…and yet sometimes, I still can’t find a pair to wear! But it is a total addiction lol
