Chemistry Cachet is back with another cool little skincare tip, add in a simple jelly mask to your skin routine for quick results!
Here are some benefits to using a jelly mask each week.
Add In A Simple Jelly Mask To Your Skin Routine
I have tried several brands, but so far, this one is my favorite. I like the portable packaging it comes with, and I saw more results using it compared to a few others.
You can see an instagram video of this mask on my face I did several weeks ago!
First, I would like to start with what benefits you can see from using a jelly mask each week. You might have seen this if you get a facial. They are a popular choice with esthetician because they provide very quick and noticeable results.
Benefits Of Jelly Masks:
One of the primary benefits of jelly masks is their exceptional hydration capabilities. The formulation often includes hydrating ingredients like hyaluronic acid, glycerin, and various botanical extracts.
The occlusive nature of the jelly helps to lock in moisture, preventing water loss and allowing the skin to absorb these hydrating agents more effectively. This can result in a plump, dewy, and more supple complexion, making them ideal for dry or dehydrated skin types.
Another noticeable benefit is toning. After using a jelly mask and removing it, you will notice firmer and more toned skin. This makes it a great option to use in the morning.
Jelly masks can be infused with a wide array of active ingredients to target specific skin concerns. Depending on the formulation, they can offer benefits such as brightening dull skin, calming inflammation and redness, improving skin elasticity, and even providing gentle exfoliation. The unique texture of the jelly also allows for a close contact with the skin, potentially enhancing the delivery and efficacy of these beneficial ingredients.
One of the reasons I love this brand of masks is it comes with a variety pack of options!
How They Work:
Jelly masks use potassium alginate and algin which is a natural polysaccharide to help hydrate, plump, and retain moisture. This is what give the mask its jelly like texture. Other ingredients in the masks are rice flour and oat kernel powder giving it the nice powdery texture you notice when you first use the masks. Rice flour is fantastic for brightening and tightening your skin along with oat kernel powder.
Those are the base ingredients for each masks. Depending on the type of jelly mask, they also contain various active botanical ingredients for added benefits.
How To Use A Jelly Mask:
Okay, this is important to read! After trying these out and testing them for about a year, I have some simple tips on mixing them up and applying it so it works better!
Step One: Mix up one package with THREE tablespoons of water. I do this on a paper plate or mask bowl. The package calls for four tablespoons, but this makes it too watery if you are standing up applying it for yourself. Use three tablespoons and mix vigorously for a few minutes. The mixture should be nice and thick without any powder left.
Step Two: With your fingers (works better than an applicator), apply a very thick layer to your entire face. Make sure you apply it thick so it is easier to remover. You might need to do several applications to get desired thickness. Above is a selfie I took of the mask after it dried, it looks like it might drip, but it it firms up quickly.
Step Three: Allow it to firm up for about 10-15 minutes.
Step Four: Remove the mask, it is very easy to peel off when you apply in thick layers. The first picture in this post is how the mask looks after you remove it.
Step Five: Wipe off any residue with a wet cloth or take your usual shower. Any residue comes off very easily!
I personally use these about once per week.
These are such a simple addition to your skincare routine for fantastic firming, toning, and hydration.
