Chemist Tips for This Banana Lemon Smoothie

This smoothie is fantastic for healthy glowing skin. All the elements are important to create the best combination. Below are some chemist tips on brands and substitutions.

Banana Lemon Smoothie with collagen

Collagen Powder

I talk about this ALL the time, but it is such an important tool for your health. Collagen is powerful for skin and joint health, especially as we get older.

Many of my readers have tried collagen, but never saw many benefits. The reason? They were using it wrong and not getting good brands. You MUST have vitamin C when taking collagen to get the full benefits. Read this important post on the function of collagen for your health to learn more on how it works. This brand is what I always recommend because it works best. I have tried out numerous types and even expensive brands. I prefer this every time! Plus, it is very inexpensive on Amazon. I do the subscribe and save, so I get it very month for about $8.00!

Lemon

Lemon is an incredible option for your health. Not only is it refreshing in smoothies, but the health benefits are very potent. You can view our in-depth chemical breakdown of lemon and health benefits in this post. Lemon is great for energy, skincare, and it has the necessary vitamin C content for the collagen to work even better.

Lemon powder is another option you can add to this smoothie. Just a teaspoon or so for a little flavor, but mostly added health benefits.

Coconut Yogurt

Yogurt is full of probiotics which are essential for your skin and gut health. I always buy coconut yogurt because I don’t eat much dairy, but you can substitute good Greek yogurt too. Always make sure to choose a yogurt with minimal ingredients and no added sugars or artificial sweeteners.

If you can find lemon yogurt, this would be a great addition! I can usually only find vanilla coconut yogurt, so that is what I use.

Protein Powder

Protein is another essential tool for healthy glowing skin. Many people, especially women, don’t get enough protein in their diets. As we get older, our skin needs even more protein to rebuild and repair. Not to mention, it is so important for maintaining muscles.

I love this plant based protein powder in vanilla! I have also used this one which is a great choice. We have also recently tried bone broth protein which has a nice flavor and works really good in smoothies! It is also dairy-free and gluten-free.

Bananas

I think bananas are the perfect smoothie addition for flavor and texture. I keep frozen bananas in the freezer and take them out for smoothies. Frozen bananas will make this smoothie thick and creamy! You can also just use ripe bananas 🙂

Hope you enjoy this recipe! I make it a few times a week!

We freeze all our bananas if they are just going over a bit so as not to waste them. I mostly use them for banana cakes and breads but this sounds delicious. Pinning.
