Today I am sharing a quick list of beach favorites for kids and adults!
We just got back from a beach vacation to Pensacola, and there were some things that definitely made our life easier. And there were a few things I wish I had brought with me.
This was our first beach vacation in awhile, so I figured out some things that would make it more enjoyable for us with the kids.

Also, these items are great for the pool or lake.
Sandscreen
This handy product is a great addition for your beach bag. This sand removal bag easily wipes off sand from feet, legs, or hands. We used this before getting into the vehicle, and it worked great especially for the kids.
Sunscreen
Do not go to the beach or the pool without powerful mineral sunscreen (use discount code alexisroch). This is the only one I use that works so good, doesn’t leave a white cast, and is good for sensitive skin. Read more in-depth information here
Beach Umbrella and Beach Tent
We bought this umbrella years ago, and it is still in great shape. It holds up well in the wind and provides good shade for the kids. I wish we had gone ahead and bought a beach tent though. I will be buying this one for our next beach vacation. Many people had these, and it was a good idea if you have more than a few people. The sandbag aspect was so smart!
Large Beach Towel
My husband was in the Marine Corps, so we lived near many beaches. The first beach item we ever bought was an extra large beach towel. We STILL use it to this day 18 years later. It is great for several kids to sit on, several adults, or just to put all your stuff on.
Simple Mesh Beach Bag
There are many fancy and expensive pool/beach bags out now. I also bought one, but decided to just go with my tried and true mesh beach bag. It has side pockets for sunscreen and little items plus plenty of room for towels inside. The mesh is always my go to for the beach.
DVD Player Holder
I have bought several DVD player holders for the car, but this one has been the best! It fit so well and didn’t budge.
Portable DVD Player
If you are road tripping like we did to Florida, I love a portable DVD player for kids. We don’t do tablets or iPads for our young kids, but they love watching little movies. We bought another brand that died on the way there, but this Sylvania one we bought in 2021 and it still works perfect. I highly recommend it.
Baby Hats with SPF 50
These baby hats are perfect for the pool and the beach. I didn’t let my Tucker man go out in the sun without it. It has an area to tighten around the head plus tighten around the chin, so it fit well and didn’t come off.
Baby Float
Tucker is too young for a puddle jumper or most of the life vests, so for our beach trip I bought a simple baby float. There are many different kinds of baby floats, some of them have a shade canopy and other additions, but I went with the basic type and it worked good. It also took up very little space to travel with and quickly deflated. It was also easy to blow up, so we were able to do it each time we went to the pool.
Rash Guards for Kids SPF 50
I bought this for Amelia two years ago, and she still wears it. I never let her swim without it and she doesn’t get any sun burns. It has held up so well in the sun too, I have been so pleased with it. I bought several other ones previously that faded in the sun and fell apart after just a month of use, but this one has lasted. I got one for Tucker too.
Puddle Swim Jumpers
We love puddle jumpers for the pool, they are a must have for the pool and beach.
Pampers Swim Diapers
This is also a must have for babies and toddlers in diapers. I used the same kind for Amelia, and they work great.
Stain Remover
I always travel with a small stain remover bottle especially with the kids. I used this several times for stains on Amelia’s clothes! The bottle is small and good for travel, and you can spot treat stains without having to wash it too!
Book Ideas
If you want a fantastic beach read, I HIGHLY recommend Frieda McFadden books. I took The Inmate to the beach this time, but other favorites are The Housemaid, Never Lie, and The Coworker. What makes her books so great for beach and pool reading is they are easy to read and stop at any point, then pick back up. They are very captivating, and she always has an amazing twist.
I also brought along a Lisa Jewell book. I like easy reads that don’t take as much attention when I go to the beach or the pool.
