My favorite time period is the Victorian Era. I am totally captivated by the customs, etiquette, architecture, fashion, and lifestyle in general. If time travel were possible, I would transport myself there in a heartbeat! This weekend I planned an intimate little bachelorette party for my best friend of 27 years (friends since we were 1!). I did some research for something unique and special, and stumbled upon a vintage tea at The Ashton Hotel in downtown Fort Worth. I immediately knew it was the perfect thing for us to do. We are both lovers of all things vintage and nostalgic for those Continue Reading >>
Recycled Paint Can Turned Planter!
Recycling is something I have always had a knack for. Even as a kid, I was coming up with ways to reuse things without having to throw them away. Throwing items away is something I always feel guilty about, especially when they have so much potential. That being said, I also hate clutter, so don't worry...I'm not a pack rat :) I've been watching flea market shows for years and my affinity for repurposing continues to grow. This past winter, we put up a wood privacy fence and stained every square inch of it. It took about 7 gallons total! I never could bring myself to throw Continue Reading >>
DIY Rose Trellis
This is a simple DIY Rose trellis we have in our backyard for climbing roses. It was simple to put together! We shared this post when my climbing roses were just a year old, so it only needed a short stake (you can see that in photos below). Over the years, we have updated it to fit the HUGE climbing roses. After getting requests about this on instagram stories, I wanted to update this post with some new photos for you. When we bought our home over 5 years ago, the first thing I had to do was plant roses! I'm an old soul for many reasons, but one of those would have to Continue Reading >>
Super Easy Healthy Banana Oat Bars
One of my favorite things to do is bake...I love the science behind baking too (chemistry nerd :)) But that is a post for another day. Anyways, I am always trying to add healthy baking recipes to my repertoire since my husband has some serious health problems hindering him from enjoying his ultimate favorite baked goods (like my famous chocolate cookies, which I will post soon!). I have been making these bars for a few years, but I always do them differently, or add in different toppings. They make for an easy, healthy snack or even a quick breakfast. The basic ingredients for the bars Continue Reading >>
First Blog Post
This is my first official blog post! This is a lifestyle blog (sort of), but I am not sure where it may go in the future. I have a business that you can learn more about under the services tab. So why Chemistry Cachet?!? Well, I am a chemist...and a huge science nerd. I love all things chemical related which is why I got a degree in chemistry. Cachet means the state of being respected or prestige. It can even mean the seal of official approval. I think Chemistry is becoming a lost art, but is truly the base for everything on earth. All things involve a chemical process...even things like Continue Reading >>
