Today we are sharing an easy DIY Microwave Cinnamon Kettle Corn recipe!

Kettle Corn and October go hand in hand. Sweet, hot popcorn while watching a scary movie is the perfect fall evening! I also think kettle corn is perfect on a summer evening under the stars! Really any time of year is perfect for this recipe.

Kettle Corn can be a little intimidating to make on your own, and let’s face it, it can be dangerous! Sugar get’s hot lol. Store bought microwavable popcorn is so full of chemicals, we try to stay away from it as often as possible. As a chemist, I analyze pretty much every label I come across and popcorn can be concerning when it comes to ingredients.

This make your own kettle is the best solution! It is so easy and cheap to make, plus you can do it in the microwave, so it is stress free and ready in minutes!

Easy DIY Microwave Cinnamon Kettle Popcorn Recipe

Popcorn is literally my favorite food, as I mentioned here. I could eat all kinds for every meal and be fine. I always keep healthy popcorn on hand for a snack! Cinnamon Caramel Kettle Corn is my new favorite popcorn to have for movie night. The fun thing about this recipe is you can definitely make it your own. If you like it more sweet, add more sugar. If you prefer butter flavor, add melted butter. It is that versatile!

For the caramel version
  1. 1/4 cup popcorn kernels
  2. 1 tbsp coconut sugar (or brown)
  3. 1tsp regular sugar
  4. 2 tsp coconut oil
  5. dash cinnamon
  6. 1 tsp pink sea salt (or regular)
For the regular
  1. Use regular sugar instead, eliminating all coconut sugar or brown. You can also eliminate the cinnamon.
Instructions
  1. In a bowl, mix all the ingredients until combined. Add to a brown paper bag, then fold top a few times.
  2. Microwave about 2 minutes, or until popping stops. Don't let it go too long, it will burn!
Tips
  1. This is HOT, so wait a few minutes before opening bag.

Things To Keep In Mind With DIY Microwave Popcorn:

My chemist tip is to make sure you don’t over cook it. With coconut sugar, it is easy for the caramelization to burn the popcorn, so it is better to make sure you under cook it.

Having unpopped kernels is totally normal, and will always happen when you make this in a paper bag.

You can try all types of seasoning on this recipe too! I have added in spices, pepper, lime, cayenne, and more to this recipe.

Happy Thursday Alexis! Kettle Korn AND caramel corn… YUM! Looks absolutely delicious. This is very dangerous knowledge. :). I have everything but the brown paper bags… On the shopping list. I read the label on a microwave popcorn bag and cringed (before I cooked it). This would be a much better and healthier option. Thanks for the recipe!

This looks and sounds amazing. I love pop corn and can eat it for every meal, too. If I’ve had a really long day, I make it for dinner instead of whatever I have planned for the night. I can’t wait to try this!

I analyze every label too. I like to try and keep it to things I can pronounce. We love popcorn and caramel so I will have to try this.

Yes, some of the chemicals can get pretty crazy that they add to foods. I hope you get to try this! Thanks Julie!

Yum! I love popcorn too. I haven’t tried kettle corn in the microwave since my mom bought me a stovetop kettle corn maker a few years ago for Christmas, but I am sure this recipe would work in that too.
