We get many questions about collagen supplements, so I thought it would be great to share with you today this collagen supplement with hyaluronic acid and vitamin c I have been taking!
If you have read our blog for awhile, you know I continue to recommend neocell collagen.
It is the best option for the best price.
A reader sent me this new product information earlier this year. I haven’t seen it in the store yet, so I bought some from Amazon to test it out.
Let’s talk about how it works and the results!
Collagen Supplement with Hyaluronic Acid AND Vitamin C
Way back in 2016, we shared this post about collagen. It wasn’t a very well-known topic at the time, but it was something I had tested and used for awhile.
This post was very popular, and readers have been using this supplement since then.
Last year, we also shared this post about do collagen supplements really work?? This post is worth checking out because we did a huge poll and readers sent in their stories too!
Anyways, I have continued using the Neocell brand for years. When I stop taking it, I can see a difference in my skin.
Why Hyaluronic Acid?
We mentioned taking a hyaluronic acid supplement in this post. It can really benefit your skin health, but it also helps collagen work better. I have taken a separate hyaluronic acid supplement over the years, but I have also tried different products with the hyaluronic acid combined with the collagen.
Be sure to catch up on this post to learn all about taking hyaluronic acid orally.
The important of vitamin c in a collagen supplement:
Now to vitamin C. Readers always ask why do you need to take vitamin C with a collagen supplement? Or how much vitamin C does it take? Collagen will not bind properly without vitamin C. If your diet is lacking in vitamin C or you aren’t taking a multi vitamin, you need a vitamin C supplement. There isn’t a set amount of vitamin C you need, but you do need some.
Your doctor can help you determine if you need more or less vitamin C (always ask your doctor about supplements).
For years I have taken just a regular vitamin C supplement.
I was thrilled to see this new collagen supplement Neocell has also has vitamin C already in the powder!
How does this new option compare to the original?
The original one I have taken for years is only collagen powder. This new one I have been using has the hyaluronic acid and vitamin C in the powder. Which is great!
I have been using this new one for a few months, and I really like it. I can’t take much vitamin C due to RA (raising my immune system backfires!), so I stopped my small vitamin C supplement since this container has 60 mg in it. I can tell a difference in my under eye area which is the first place I see collagen supplement benefits.
I think this supplement makes a great option for those who like to take hyaluronic acid too.
You get everything in one container!
It is a little pricier than the original version, but a good buy if you can eliminate other supplements!
I think you will enjoy either one. This new one is a great option if you want to take out some other products. They contain the same amount and same type of collagen, this just contains the added hyaluronic acid and vitamin C. So, it is really geared towards skin health.
Neocell vs Other Brands
I get this question weekly from readers! I have tested out so many other brands over the years. Earlier this year, I tested out a brand called Modere. I used their liquid collagen for 4 months total to see how the results were. I did not think it was worth the high price! In fact, I started seeing more wrinkles around the eyes while using it. I switched back to Neocell again. Within a month, I started seeing the benefits in my skin.
I have also tried Vital Proteins many times over the years. I didn’t think it was worth the higher cost either.
By the way, this isn’t sponsored by Neocell. They don’t even know I exist LOL! I just truly believe it is the best collagen supplement for the cost. I have tried many brands, but continue to go back to them. My entire family uses their collagen now too 🙂
I think you will like this new type!

Thanks for the real information. I love that you actually look into the chemistry of the products. I have been using the neocell collagen. I started using it mostly for my hair, but it has not shown any improvement ( losing it at the top of my head after 45 + years wearing a hairnet for work in Radioactive facility. My nails are longer, harder and smoother. I used to have ridges in them.

It’s definitely helped my nails too! I have noticed it doesn’t make hair regrow, but will help existing hair shine more and be healthier.

I have had 5 back surgeries and read somewhere that collagen can help with chronic inflammation. However, I think it depends on the type (1,2,3) of collagen. Do you know if this brand is good for fighting chronic inflammation?
Alexis says
Collagen can help strengthen tissues which can in turn help inflammation. It won’t directly help inflammation, but it helps many other things that contribute to inflammatory pain or degeneration. As far as brands, most brands are really going to be the same. As long as you are using a grass-fed non gmo collagen, then you are good. I always recommend this particular brand because it is much cheaper than other options, but works just as well if not better 🙂

Hi, if this helps you build collagen – does that mean when you stop taking it, any gains you have experienced, continue? Collagen does not break down for several years once it’s built, so in that case, you skin should continue to show the good results of the collagen powder for a few years after you stop taking it. Is this correct?
Alexis says
Results don’t go away in a month or two, but when I was pregnant and didn’t take collagen for 9 months, I noticed my skin wasn’t as hydrated and my eye area especially. That is just my personal experience
