This cozy autumn reading list is the perfect way to embrace and enjoy this wonderful season!
Fall is my favorite time of year to read! It is nice enough to read outside in the soft autumn glow or by a big window overlooking the changing leaves. The air is getting crisp and so many wonderful aromas permeating the air. This time of year is such a welcome change from the busyness of summer!
My favorite way to spend a lazy, crisp autumn day is a with a cozy autumn reading list! Now, most of these books are considered mysteries, or cozy mysteries. I enjoy this genre of book in the fall because they are light, easy reads with a little bit of mystery and suspense, just like fall!
Here are 10 Books for a Cozy Autumn Reading List
1. A Killer Crop
This is set in a apple orchard in New England during the end of September as the leaves change. It is centered around New England life and has some historical fiction laced in it with the mention of Emily Dickenson. It is a pretty fast read, but I loved the scenery in it!
2. Strange Brew
This is a southern mystery centered around a former cop who now owns a cleaning business. This one was actually a little suspenseful at times, just trying to figure out who did it!
3. The Diva Haunts the House
Full of Halloween inspiration, the Diva Haunts the House is definitely a fun book for October. Most of the book takes place in an old “haunted house” as they prepare for a Halloween party. It is a fun read!
4. Death of a Neighborhood Witch
Death of a Neighborhood Witch is set in California during Halloween. It was full of some interesting twists and humor too! I was definitely a little surprised who the killer was in this book.
5. Haunted
I was intrigued by this book since it is centered around an old mansion turned bed and breakfast. I love books about really old creepy homes! This is the perfect mystery for fall!
6. Foul Play at the Fair
I could almost smell the wonderful treats from reading this book! It is set in New York before Halloween as they prepare for the annual fair. I love things about carnivals and fairs too, something about them is just the perfect bit of creepy for fall!
7. Stirring the Plot
Part of the cookbook nook mystery series, Stirring the Plot is full of ghosts, witches, potions, and murder. Not to mention delicious food!
8. Harry Potter and the Cursed Child
Now, I had to add this one on the list because we finally finished reading it and I feel like I need to defend this book for minute. I have heard many negative reviews about this play over the last few months, but we really enjoyed it.
My husband and I read this one together during his free time. It’s important to rememberthis was written as a play when all the main characters are in their 40s. I found it really interesting to see what careers they had as adults, how many kids they had, and what the magic world was like after Voldemort. Many people said the characters had different personalities than they did in the books. I disagree, I thought they had the same personalities, but as 40 year old adults, so different mentalities. It was just a fun little read and perfect for fall!
9. Much Ado about Muffin
I loved how this series is set in an old castle the main character inherited. It is centered around a small town in upstate New York with a cute town and beautiful scenery,
10. Murder in the Mystery Suite
This series intrigued me because it is set in a hotel or resort that caters to book lovers. All the rooms are named after famous literature, it has a massive library, and the building was brought over from England. The murder in this book takes place at a Halloween Masquerade ball where everyone is dressed up like famous book characters. If you love books and literature, this is a fun read!

I’m thinking I’ll go to the library! I have a Nook but free is best. I put together my lemon-infused vinegar today. It’s fine to use with lemon-infused olive oil and water on wood, right?? I’m excited for dusting spray and The Best Homemade Bathroom Cleaner. Thanks Alexis! Appreciate your work.
Alexis says
You can definitely use both lemon infused, I love doing that! Adds a great scent for dusting and safe for wood since it is diluted 🙂 Thanks Beth!
