This DIY green tea body scrub infused with rose water will totally inspire your home beauty game!

My favorite part of this scrub is the heavenly scent it has, full of fresh green tea and rose tones! It is so refreshing and uplifting for your senses. I shared this on instagram stories the other day, and everyone wanted details!

During the summer and winter months especially, I struggle with really dry and irritated skin. In Texas, our weather is all over the place, so it is even harder on my skin. Exfoliating is my number one need when it comes to skincare. Most of the scrubs I purchase from the store are just too harsh on my skin and face. I end up just getting red skin!

This scrub is perfect for the entire body, as well as the face!

Stay tuned after the recipe for chemist tips on why this is awesome!

DIY Green Tea Body Scrub

First, we will show you how to make an organic body scrub, then we will go in details on the science behind the ingredients!

Be sure to check out our DIY caffeinated oil video for more DIY options like this!

Ingredients:

  • 3 Cups of Fine Organic Sugar
  • 3/4 cup of green tea leaves (Save from tea bags or loose leaf)
  • 1/4 cup grape seed or avocado oil (can also use olive oil)
  • 15-25 drops of rosewater oil concentrate

Directions:

  1. In a large bowl, mix the sugar, tea leaves, and oil. This mixture will seem light and fluffy, but if you press it together it will form a shape. You don’t want too much oil, just enough to keep it fluffy and soft.
  2. Now add in about 15 or so drops of the rosewater concentrate. Start with that and if you want a stronger scent, add in 5-10 more drops.
  3. Store in a jar with a tight lid. This will keep for many weeks. If it starts to harden up, heat it up a little to use it. Once it starts hardening, that is when you need to use it up soon. Other than that, it will not go bad.

Chemist Tips for Making DIY Green Tea Body Scrub

The elements for making sugar scrubs are always sugar, oil, scent, and sometimes an additional abrasive for added exfoliating qualities. In this instance, the tea leaves are going to act as the additional scrubbing power. The best part is tea leaves also have soothing qualities. You can use fresh tea leaves or even used ones for this recipe. I actually save my tea leaves and use it in this.

This post about tea benefits talks about the chemical qualities of tea. Tea is also a great topical solution which can exfoliate, invigorate, and sooth irritated skin.

I love to use green tea for this, but you can use white tea or black tea as well.

Sugar Options

Sugar doesn’t necessarily have health benefits except the scrubbing power it has. It can really scrub away dead skin. The best sugar to use for scrubs is going to be an organic, fine sugar. If you use regular sugar it can be too course. Using organic is the best option for topical solutions too. I like to use this sugar.

Oil Options

There are three different oils you can use in this solution. Olive oil is an easy option with great chemical qualities for skin including moisturizes, anti-inflammatory, and more.

My personal favorite is avocado oil. It is really nice on skin and is mild in scent. It has similar benefits to olive oil.

Another oil I love to use for beauty products is grape seed oil. I keep a bottle of this in my bathroom for removing makeup and other skin applications. It has not scent and is very gentle on the skin. It works great in this sugar scrub too!

How Do You Make a Rose Body Scrub?

This green tea body scrub is great, but the rose addition makes this body scrub even better.

This is the concentration of rose hip oil which is one of my favorite oils for healing skin! Actual rose hip oil doesn’t have much of a scent and would make this solution too mushy, so the concentrate is the best option. This particular one has a wonderful rose scent which is my favorite part. It truly smells like a bouquet of flowers!

Rose oil is great for irritated skin like eczema issues, scars, stretch marks, dry skin, and so much more.

What About a Black Tea Scrub?

If you are a black tea drinker, you can try using black tea in place of the green tea. Just like green tea, it will have similar benefits. It has a higher caffeine content, so it will be even better for soothing and plumping skin. I will say, I don’t like the scent as much as the green tea, but it would make a great option too if you have it on hand!

You will really enjoy this for your next home spa day!
