This week it is all about chocolate!
Chocolate frozen yogurt is probably one of my favorite frozen treats of all time! I developed this recipe earlier in the summer to share as a guest post on Anne’s Blog. It has definitely been a big repeater this summer for us.
Baking is chemistry at its finest! I love getting in the kitchen experimenting with crazy concoctions like a mad scientist. The kitchen is my favorite laboratory to conduct experiments in, but summer calls for less heat and more chill. So, this time of year, I much prefer working on cold treats like these cookies and cream popsicles or this peanut butter frozen yogurt.
And if you really love chocolate, don’t forget to check out this fun post on Why You Should Eat Chocolate!
Double Chocolate Frozen Yogurt
♥1 cup greek yogurt ( I used non fat, but any kind works just fine)
♥1 cup unsweetened cashew milk (You can use almond too)
♥1/8 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
♥1/8 cup dutch cocoa powder**
♥1/2 to 1 cup sweetener that measures like sugar ( I used stevia, taste it make sure it is a little too sweet, it will be less sweet once it is frozen)
♥1 tsp vanilla
♥1/4 tsp salt
♥Mini chocolate chips
Directions:
Mix everything together. I left a few little cocoa powder chunks to make it more rich! Put in an ice cream maker according to directions. Mine was firm after 12 minutes…It doesn’t take long!
No ice cream maker? Just pop it in a shallow container and place in freezer. Take it out every 30 min to an hour, scrape with a fork each time. This will keep it fluffy.
Chemist Tips ** Many people don’t know what dutch processed cocoa powder is. It will give it a richer flavor. I will be doing some information on that soon on my blog as part of my chocolate series! ** I recommend spraying the bowl with non stick spray before pouring the batter inside. This is so light and airy it can stick. And don’t worry if some sticks to the side when its done, totally normal!
