I think we can all agree that Peppermint Mocha just screams the holiday season! It encompasses all the holiday flavors we love like peppermint, chocolate and of course, coffee. If I go to Starbucks this time of year, I always get a skinny peppermint mocha. Although, I don’t think it is the best thing in the world, I enjoy it once in awhile.
The thing I don’t like about Starbucks version is it is bitter and lacking that sweet flavor I love from chocolate.
So, a few years ago when I started getting crazy in the kitchen making my own coffee drinks, I came up with this one. The flavors are on point and it is so easy to make!
Easy Skinny Peppermint Mocha
- 1 cup strong coffee, brewed or whatever type is left over
- 2/3 cup almond milk (or your favorite)
- 1/8 tsp peppermint extract**
- 1 tbsp + 1 tsp DUTCH cocoa powder
- 2 -3 packets of stevia (or your favorite)
- 1/2 tsp honey
- Optional: 1 tbsp of peppermint mocha creamer
Directions: Add all the ingredients to HOT coffee and whisk until combined, heat more if needed to incorporate the cocoa powder. The twist on this is the honey…I loved the added sweetness it gave to this without tasting like honey. Top with crushed peppermints and whipped cream!
Extract is very strong, so be careful not to add too much to this or it will overpower the drink 🙂

Is there anything more relaxing then sitting by the Christmas tree with your favorite drink? I love it!
I hope you can make this wonderful treat soon! Oh, if you don’t like coffee, make this a steamer and add additional milk to replace the coffee 🙂

It is one of my favorites too! You will enjoy this one if you love Starbucks version, I actually like this one better :)))
Yum! I love that it’s skinny too. I just had a peppermint milkshake and it was so tasty!

It is really good Kate! 🙂 If you love all these flavors you will totally love this!
I don’t like coffee drinks that are too sugary. I want the taste of coffee. All these drinks are much healthier than my creamer in the morning!!
I am the same way…anything to sweet and it hurts my stomach! I love this one because it has just the right amount of flavor, but it is also not very sweet!
Oooooh, this looks amazing!!!!!! I love the idea of adding honey. I definitely want to go buy some peppermint extract and make this!
Something about the honey really adds the best flavor! It is so good!
I love mocha, hot cocoa, and peppermint, so this would be amazing right now! Thanks for sharing with us at The Wednesday Showcase!
It really is so delicious and full of flavor!
I’m not usually the biggest peppermint fan, but your drink looks delicious!
It’s super good! You can absolutely eliminate the peppermint too and just have the mocha! 🙂
I love the peppermint/mocha combination. Saved to Pinterest – I’ll definitely be making this one!
It is such a great combination this time of year 🙂

I used to get the HoHo Mocha from Caribou. So yummy. This looks like a cheap home alternative!
That sounds good, I have never had their Mocha before. This is a great alternative to make at home, I hope you get to enjoy it 🙂
I just love sipping peppermint mochas while wrapping presents and doing all things Christmas! Gotta try this!
I totally agree, it is such a great Christmas drink! So full of festive flavors 🙂
This looks amazing!! I absolutely love anything peppermint around Christmas, and now that I’ve found this – I know exactly what I am going to be drinking Christmas Eve!
This is the BEST drink to have for Christmas Eve! I hope you love it 🙂
