It’s the last Friday of May! Hard to believe this year has gone by so fast, but in a way I’m glad. We are now approaching my favorite part of the year. I love summer, but I adore fall even more. So, to me the best part of the year is just getting started! That is, if this RAIN will ever stop in Texas. I have never seen anything like it.
We spent part of Memorial Day weekend in Austin for my best friends wedding. It was a beautiful wedding, and despite many detours we had to take due to floods, it was a great road trip too!
Do you follow me on instagram? A few of these popped up there, make sure you follow me! I’ll be posting some great summer things coming up. We are still in the process of sprucing up the back yard so I will be updating as we go along 🙂
1. My friends wedding was at a winery, which was beautiful. She had a very small wedding party, but I helped her get ready in the bridal suite. Sweet memories! (we aren’t sure what is up with my cheek bones looking white, bad iphone lighting 😉 )
2. I experimented with a new drink and it turned out awesome! This one is for all you chai tea lovers out there 🙂 Remember, every Monday (Mix it up Monday), I share with you an awesome new drink recipe. Follow me here so you don’t miss out! I’ve already been working on more summer drinks that I can’t wait to post!
3. Our backyard has been flooded for weeks! Many of my plants are ruined too. It is definitely in an upheaval out back, so we can’t wait to get it back in order. Especially Ruger, he watched it rain this week and he misses playing outside! #rugerthebulldog (notice his bone 🙂 )
4. Despite all the rain, we had an awesome sunset on Sunday night after the wedding!
5. Did you catch my Hibiscus post this week? It was part one of a two part series, and I will be sharing the next part soon. A step by step on how to pot them the best way. It is the perfect time to buy an new Hibiscus and plant it in a pot! Follow along so you get some easy tips for making them beautiful all summer.
Just for fun I wanted to share with you a picture of us at my wedding 8 years ago compared to us at the wedding last week. I had a very small, old fashioned military wedding, much different then hers. It is amazing how much we have grown since then, but she has truly been with me through it all. We’ve been friends for 27 years! We both agree we get better with age 🙂
I hope everyone has a great weekend! Are you doing anything fun or just relaxing? I think it will be a relaxing one for us!

How awesome to still be friends after 27 years! How great. And the rain! How crazy. I love rainy days, but continuous rain all the time would just be hard. Especially you all have been getting so MUCH rain! Hope it stops soon! Hope you have a great weekend!

I know 27 years is practically a lifetime! I love the rain so much, but lately I have begun to hate it because it doesn’t seem to end lol. We are hoping for sunshine next week! Have a great weekend Katie!

Happy Friday Alexis!
27 years of friendship is something very special… Here in California, we pray/wish for rain to help clean the air and help alleviate the drought (although that’s a long term project). We don’t need all the rain at once, but a good shower every other day would be nice… although roadwork would never get done…
No “fabulous” plans for the weekend – but at least I can sleep in an hour or so. I guess that’s fabulous…
Have a great weekend!

I lived in San Diego for years, and I always prayed for rain! Texas usually is in a drought this time of year so we are grateful for it, but it is too much now! Looks like sunny skies soon though. Thank you so much for stopping by Laurie! Happy Friday!

Beautiful hibiscus picture! It’s so crazy when you think how long you’ve known certain friends, and what you’ve been through together. Aww! 🙂

Poor Ruger! Hopefully your weather will get better so he can play outside! We’ve been following all that crazy flooding in Texas – glad you all haven’t had too horrible of damage.
Love those pics of you and your friend on your wedding days! It’s crazy to see how much we change over the years. It’s awesome that you’ve been friends for so long!
