Happy Friday! Can you believe it’s almost May? What??
I remember this time of year used to crawl by when I was younger because I was SO excited about summer, I couldn’t see straight. Now, this time of year is so busy, time just flies by. There has been so much activity going on this week around here too, so it has been a busy week!
I have been working on some fun new projects recently, but I am most excited about remaking some of my favorite baked recipes into a allergy friendly version, without dairy or gluten. It has been a little tricky getting the chemistry right on them, but it has been fun too!
The banana chocolate chip scones turned out really good! The texture was actually better and fluffier, more like cake. Stay tuned for some more of those remakes coming up (and see more on snapchat 🙂 )
This weeks chemist solution series was all about simple things to add to a gluten-free cake mix to make it taste awesome! The next project I am working on along those lines is about my how I make my own cake mixes! I can’t wait to share that! I also have some really fun summer inspired recipes and projects that I am working on which will be coming out soon too. You can read about 5 of my favorite things about summer weather here 🙂
I feel behind on reading the last few weeks with all the projects going on, but I am determined to finish the book I am reading now (Elizabeth Taylor Bio) which I am loving. I will have a full review soon along with a couple of others I am reading. I have a huge stack of books to read next too! Now that we are having summer like weather, I just love going out on the porch swing and reading in the afternoon waiting for my husband to come home. It is the best time of day!
While they worked on the new roof, we took Ruger to the dog park to play fetch. We thought everything had dried out from the rain…but if there is a mud muddle anywhere around Ruger, he will find it! He is OBSESSED with mud and rain. Within minutes, he was submersed in the puddle! If you follow us on snapchat (alexisroch), you saw that he flopped in there every time he ran for the ball. Such a crazy bulldog!
The honeysuckle is already blooming like crazy! We planted this last year in the corner garden we made, and it has grown out of control this spring. It smells so wonderful and reminds me of summer as a kid. If you live in a warm area, this is the best stuff to plant! It lives through all weather and doesn’t require much care once it’s established. And our backyard smells like a candle right now!
Taking a selfie with Ruger goes like this…he either keeps kissing me or he looks depressed lol. He definitely makes a bad day turn around for good!
So, what are your plans for this weekend?
Happy Friday!

I LOVE honeysuckle. It’s particularly important to me as it was a smell several of us in the family smelled when my Mom was sick (and there was none anywhere). I’m behind in my blog reading so I’m playing catch up today. Hope it’s a great weekend.

I don’t know if I’ve smelled honeysuckle before, but that’s so cool your yard smells like a candle. Must be such a pleasant smell….. 🙂
I hope you have a fabulous weekend.

Happy Friday Alexis… hope you have great plans for the weekend. Our primary goal is major weeding and cutting down the “green growth” in the backyard – it’s halfway up Miss Ann’s legs! How Mr Ruger, the mud puppy? Love the selfies of you and Ruger. I tried to do a selfie with Miss Ann last week and it didn’t come out too good – unless you want an up close shot of her nostrils! Have a great weekend!!!

Ruger sometimes tries to lick the phone when we take a picture lol I always try to catch him when he is really tired! I hope y’all have a wonderful night!
