Happy Friday! Can you believe Thanksgiving is NEXT week?! Today, I want to share with you some Thanksgiving and black Friday ideas since it is coming up so fast.

It’s hard to believe that is November. We’ve had so much warm weather, it definitely doesn’t look like fall. The weather has continued to be in the high 70s, low 80s so we have been  spending a lot of time outside. I snapped the picture above last weekend while we cooked out. The sun was starting to set, so it had the prettiest glow on this part of the yard. We still have a ways to go with our backyard improvements, but it is getting there 🙂 Everything is still green and blooming, almost looks like spring.

I used to hate this retaining wall in our backyard. It goes right down the middle. We have more land behind it with trees and our tree swing, but I have grown to love it over the years. I put a bunch of potted plants up there in the spring and summer, and it kind of divides the yard from the country, brushy part.

Okay, on too some Thanksgiving and back Friday ideas!

thanksgiving-and-black-friday-ideas

Every Thanksgiving, I bring pies and vegetables. My mom always does the main dishes, but I started doing veggies years ago and it has become a tradition.

I shared my favorite recipe in last year’s newsletter and had many people write in and say they loved it! I want to share that with you today.

Balsamic Honey Roasted Brussels Sprouts

  • 1 lb Brussels Sprouts
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp balsamic vinegar
  • Honey
  • Salt & Pepper

1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

2. Cut off the ends of sprouts and cut large ones in half.

3. Combine the olive oil and vinegar in a medium bowl, then add the sprouts and coat thoroughly.

4. Pour onto baking sheet and season with salt and pepper. Lastly, drizzle a little honey over the top.

5. Roast 30-35 minutes or until tender. Stir around about halfway through baking.

Try this with carrots, parsnips or broccoli too! Sometimes I do a mixture of veggies!

This was a quick picture from last Thanksgiving’s pumpkin pie. You can find the recipe here! It is definitely a reader favorite too.

Other food ideas we love to make: these pumpkin waffles for breakfast! And I always make a fun drink too from this list. This year, I think I will make some homemade macchiato too!

I am not a fan of going to stores on black Friday! I am all about shopping online! They have the beast deals the week of Thanksgiving too, especially on Amazon.

If you missed out epic gift ideas for men on Wednesday, you can check out the post here. My husband picked so many awesome items that he personally uses and loves or items that have the highest reviews. I noticed that quit a few of them are already on sale too! I was pretty excited about this list when he finished because I figured out what to get him and my brother. They are always hard to buy for!

Kitchen Ideas

Gadgets for the kitchen are always fun to give! These nifty kitchen must haves are perfect gifts and most of these are on sale too!

This digital hand mixer is also listed as an upcoming black Friday sale! This would make a great gift for anyone who likes to bake. I love that it has digital settings and dough hooks!

Happy Friday! Have a great weekend!

He is so freakin’ cute! Is your Bulldog a leaf killer too? Audrey loves to chase those big bad leaves and show them who is boss ha! And I’m thinking I’m definitely going to have to make those brussel sprouts this weekend. We love brussel sprouts over here and love balsamic even more.

He does love leaves lol and he is CRAZY about wood. He will get wood from the wood pile, and have a blast playing with it. I guess they are easy to please 🙂 This is one of my favorite recipes! If you love sprouts, you will enjoy this. Let me know if you get to make it!

Happy Friday! Your backyard is beautiful – and I love Ruger! Such a cute, fun, big boy! Mischievous, isn’t he? Your recipe for brussels sprouts sounds good, but we can’t eat them here; digestive system issues. Will try your “formula” on other veggies, as you suggested. Ready for Thanksgiving?! We’re cooking the bird and a few other dishes, then heading to my parents… Have a great weekend!

Oh my goodness does that pie look so amazing! And you can’t beat brussel sprouts like that! I can’t believe how warm it’s been here, 80’s too. It’s hard for my mind to wrap around the fact that it’s Thanksgiving in a couple of days when it’s still so warm out!

Ooh thanks for all of the ideas! I’m not really into Thanksgiving food, but the rest of my family LOVES it. I think my mom would like your brussel sprout recipe.

It’s been weird weather here too. It was quite hot on Friday and then yesterday was in the 40’s and it was flurrying!

The weather has been so strange! We had a chillier weekend, but it is warming back up today! If your mom likes Brussels sprouts, she will definitely enjoy this recipe 🙂
