I know the official day of summer isn’t for another couple of days, but this past week has really felt like summer is in full swing. We love summer around here…especially Ruger! He hates the heat, but he goes crazy for the water. We got out the baby pool last weekend and he was beside himself with excitement!
You probably saw some videos of him on snapchat (alexisroch), but we couldn’t even get him to come inside lol!
I also showed you on snapchat my blackberries! I was so excited to see the blackberry bush my husband gave me for my birthday made some little berries. We ate them this weekend with dessert and they actually tasted good too! They were sweet and tender. It has some more starting to form too!
Another reason we love summer is those beautiful morning walks! On the weekends, my husband and I always go for a walk as the sun is coming up. It is still cool enough to enjoy the day before the heat sets in. I love as we walk back down to our house at the end of the walk. You can see the cows grazing in the distance and it is so peaceful! As you can see, our poor tree looks a little shabby from the tornado, but it used it be huge and full, almost to where you couldn’t see the pasture next door!
The lantana is looking so pretty in the hanging basket I added to the pergola a few weeks ago. I love this plant because they are so heat tolerant and don’t require much attention. I just make sure the soil is damp, especially during the heat of the day. This one has grown so much, it is spilling out of the hanging pot! If you are looking for a good plant to add to your container garden or even in the ground, this is the perfect one! My parents have huge lantana bushes all over their yard and pasture. They just grow wild and they can get massive!
Last, but not least, we have this AMAZING giveaway going on right now! This skincare stuff smells like Hawaii or the tropics. It is full of vanilla and coconut scents, and it is organic, so it is very gentle on our skin. Head of to Wednesday’s post for more information and a chance to also win a free ad space on my blog! And for those of you who wanted that dairy-free rice krispie treat recipe, I posted it on Monday in case you missed it!

Happy pre-summer! The morning sky (about 5:30 PDT) is so beautiful… Your blackberries look so delicious… Last week I bought some at the farmer’s market – yum! Ruger is so cute in his puppy pool… smart dog to stay in the water. Did you guys get in with him?! My lantana plants are just awful, I don’t know what to do with them. I love the ones with pink/orange/yellow blooms on them. Enjoy them for me… Have a great weekend!

The morning sky is the best!! I love all the colors that time of day 🙂 Sometimes I stand in the water with him and he loves it! I love the lantana with the pinks too. My parents have some that are all the mixed colors with pink and it is so beautiful!! Happy Friday!

This past week was sweltering as well here in FL and Lola definitely can’t handle the heat but I haven’t tried putting out a baby pool…good idea! Your blackberries look delicious. I think home grown fruits and veggies taste so much better.

Ruger is definitely loving his baby pool! It is the only way he can stand 100 degree weather lol. I agree, home grown is the best!!
