Having a toddler makes this time of year really special! We have been having a great time so far, so I thought I would share with you our fun summer activities to enjoy with your family!

I love summer! I love it even more with kids 🙂

Fun Summer Activities to Enjoy With Family

Zoo Day

Amelia LOVES animals! Her favorite book right now is a book about zoo animals. We took her to the zoo a few weeks ago, and she had a blast! You can see her riding the carousel on instagram 🙂 We live about 30 minutes from the Fort Worth Zoo, so it is a great activity for us. They have so many neat things going on in the summer for kids! I definitely recommend taking your family. It is so fun for adults too.

Make Frozen Treats

This is a great activity for kids. One of my favorite things to do when I was a kid was make kool-aide ice cubes. I would eat a bowl on hot days and loved it! You can do something like or try one of this healthy frozen treat options.

Go Camping

Kids love camping! I grew up camping in my backyard in a tent. Or my best friend and I would put a tent on the trampoline, then camp out all night. That was so much fun! We recently met up with some family to go camping at a state park. This is a great idea for families too.

Color or Do a Craft

When it is really hot outside, sometimes you have to find indoor activities. Coloring is always one of my favorite things to do. I can’t wait for Amelia to enjoy it soon! You can also make crafts for younger kids. This slime idea is fun to do!

Drive In Movie

We live close to a drive in, so my husband and I had a date night there last week. It was so fun! You can bring a ton of snacks, camp out in the back of your car, and watch a movie. This is the best thing for kids too. If you can find a drive in movie, you need to go this summer!

Play in the Sprinkler or Kid Pool

Sometimes you don’t have access to a pool, but it is fun to play in the water no matter what! It is always so hot in Texas, we find water whenever possible. We are getting Amelia a little baby pool, but Ruger loves them too! Sprinklers are so fun to play in when it is hot!

Blow Bubbles

When is the last time you blew bubbles?? Amelia is crazy about them! There are so many fun options for bubbles now too. This is a fun idea for kids of all ages!

Play With Water Guns and Water Balloons

My brother has an August birthday, so his birthday parties as a kid always involved water! One of his favorites (and mine too) was when we bought a bunch of water guns and filled so many balloons with water. It was a blast!

Go to a Fair or Carnival

I think carnivals are really the ultimate summer activity! I love them! One of my favorite memories was getting to attend the San Diego county fair in June. If you don’t live near a fair, carnivals are fun. There is always a traveling one that comes to town in the summer. I love riding the Ferris Wheel at night. Sometimes I go just to do that and get a funnel cake 🙂

Make Smores Outside

Ahh smores! We did this while camping, but you can do it on a fire pit or even make them in the oven, then eat them under the stars. Nothing says summer like smores!

Make a Pallet in the Living Room

Amelia is really into this right now! We lay down blankets, pillows, get some toys and snacks, then cuddle up to watch a movie! It is like bringing your bed into the living room. It is a fun way to watch movies in the summer! We will also make a fort with blankets and drape them over the couch. This is so fun! When I was a little kid, my dad and I would always “camp” out on Friday nights to watch a movie with sleeping bags. I always looked forward to it 🙂

Spend the Morning at the Park

We have a little park and pond across the street, we always stroll over there in the morning while it is still cool. Did you see Amelia on instagram with her new jellies? She loves wearing them when we go to the park. Sometimes, just going to the park, watching the ducks, and swinging is the best summer activity! And it is free 🙂 We also love bringing snacks!
