This list of winter date ideas for couples will help you get through the rest of this winter season!
Since tomorrow is Valentine’s Day, and we still have at least a month of winter weather left (well for us it’s more like 80 degrees, than 40), I thought it would be fun to share some fun winter date ideas for couples.
My husband and I will celebrate our 10 year wedding anniversary this summer. TEN YEARS?! Where does the time go?
We really enjoy doing fun, unique dates every few weeks to keep things interesting. If you follow us on instagram, you know he has a crazy work schedule that constantly changes. So, we don’t always have the option to have a regular Saturday night date or do typical date things.
For those that get actual snow for winter, there are some more fun things you could add to this list! We get that every few years for just one day typically, but we do have really cold days that make it not so fun to be outside. The above picture was in 2011 when had 3 snow days in a row lol We spent the day playing in the snow and that’s always a fun idea too.
Here is a list of some of our favorite winter date ideas for couples!
One. Breakfast Date
If you follow us on social media, you know we are HUGE breakfast lovers. Diner dates are some of our favorites. No matter his schedule, we can always find a 24 hour diner to enjoy. Then we can sit there talking, drinking coffee for as long as we want. We are diner connoisseurs for sure, and it always makes for a great winter date.
Two. Cozy Reading Date
Winter has it’s downfalls, but it can be fun to take advantage of those cold days by getting cozy by the fire to read. This is one of my favorite tips for enjoying winter even when you hate it too.
My husband will build a big fire, we get blankets, hot tea or cocoa, then settle in on the couch with some books. Ruger loves this too because he gets to get this favorite bone, blanket, and chew all day π These are some of my favorite days!

Three. Road Trip
We love road trips! One of our favorite date ideas is heading to a cute little town nearby for lunch or supper. We will also road trip to see my parents or his parents who both live in the country. It is nice to get a way just for the day.
If we are feeling really adventurous we will road trip to San Antonio or Austin for an overnight stay. The best part is the trip itself. We grab a bunch of snacks, our favorite music, and hit the road!
Four. Cook Together
When we were first married and didn’t have much experience cooking, we loved trying new recipes together. On a Friday night we would head to the little corner grocery store, pick up all the ingredients, then spend the evening cooking a meal complete with dessert.
I will say they didn’t always turn out, but we had a blast doing it and learning together! Now that we both now how to cook and cook often, we will pick out a special meal we don’t make at home and cook that together.
Five. Movie or TV Show Marathon
Another favorite date idea for winter is having a huge TV marathon. We will either do a themed movie day like horror, action, 80s, black & whites, or watch an entire TV series.
And of course, since we are huge popcorn fans, we love making a big batch to go along with it π
{We are loving this popcorn maker right now…use coconut oil and pink salt!}
Six. Take a Dance Lesson
I shared a sneak peak of this on instagram stories few weeks ago, but our newest endeavor is taking a dance class together! We’ve talked about it for years, but have never had the time nor made the time to check it out. Since this year we both turn 30 and have our 10th anniversary, we decided winter was the perfect time to do it. This is more expensive than most date ideas, but it is a great investment for a special occasion or for a big event like an anniversary.
We’ve been taking private lessons each week and let me tell you, it has been an absolute blast. Dancing is something I have loved my entire life. I danced in high school, but we’ve never actually danced together. Our wedding was a small military wedding, so we didn’t even do so then.
This has been such a fun learning experience so far, make sure to stay tuned for more details on our lessons π (So far we are loving salsa and swing dance)
Seven. Build Something Together
During the winter, we don’t have any yard work, so it frees up so much time for other things.
My husband really enjoys building things (like our coffee table), so I will spend the day building with him. I really do it just to enjoy his company and help, but we always have fun. If you are thinking about doing a project, winter is the perfect time to spend a weekend together doing one!

I love dancing with my husband and I hope we’ll be able to do a few lessons this year! It was one of my goals at the beginning of the year to do so! π We try to squeeze in a breakfast date every other week or so, it’s fun!

It has really been so much fun dancing! I love the private lessons so we can really learn, but I can’t wait to actually go out and practice now π

These are so fun! I’m all about breakfast too! I’d almost rather go out to breakfast than I would to go out to dinner haha! <3, Pamela Sequins & Sea Breezes

Happy pre-Valentine’s Day! Great picture of you and hubby in your snow gear! Your date ideas are creative and fun. Love that you and hubby love to do things together. We recently discovered the TV show “Big Bang Theory” and enjoy the mini-marathons on TV (but the commercials are awful) – but we seem to laugh at different parts of each episode! Oh well, what makes us unique. And breakfast for dinner for us is fun! Enjoy!!!

It is so fun to find a new TV show that you can just keep watching all day! I hate the commercials too. We always try to record it so we can fast forward or netflix it. Breakfast is always so good π

Those are always so nice to do when it’s too cold outside! We haven’t had a fire in so long since it’s been warm, but looks like we might today π

Alexis, anything I do with DH is wonderful! We enjoy spending the day in the mountains taking in the scenic beautiful through our eyes or the lens. Another thing we like doing is having weekend movie dates in the living room curled up on the sofa. If we’re together doing whatever, it’s the best way to spend time with the love of my life. I appreciated reading your date suggestions. Have a good week!

Spending time together is always the best part of any activity! I always enjoy it π Have a great rest of the week!

Great tips! I especially love the reading date tip! My partner and I read books together, well more like I read aloud to him. It began when he was recovering from a surgery, but he liked it so much that it became “a thing!” LOL
Alexis says
Thanks Stacey! Oh that is always so fun to do. My husband and I recently read the new Harry Potter book out loud together. I would read a chapter, then he would read one. It was so fun!

One of my favorite things to do is on your list – the road trip. Even just a quick day trip to take a hike. Thank you for linking up with us at the #HomeMattersParty – hope to see you back again this Friday when the new party opens.
