Steps To Get Rid of Dust Mites In Your Bedroom

Fall is the perfect time to tackle some deep cleaning! Today we are sharing the steps to get rid of dust mites in your bedroom.

Zyrtec has shared with us a great graphic to check out too.

Let’s get started.

Steps To Get Rid of Dust Mites In Your Bedroom

What Exactly Are Dust Mites?

Dust mites are 1/4 to 1/3 of a millimeter long. They are invisible to the naked eye and can live nearly anywhere on earth. You will frequently find dust mites in bedding, mattresses, curtains, and upholstered furniture where they eat the discarded skin cells that settle there.  This is a problem since many people develop an allergy to the feces of these dust mites.

How To Get Rid of Dust Mites

If you’re ready to tackle the dust mites that have settled in your bedroom, there are several steps you can take.

You’ll want to use zippered, dust-proof covers on your mattress, box springs, comforter, and pillows, and wash your sheets, pillowcases, blankets, and throw rugs in hot water on a weekly basis. Your curtains and toys should also be washed regularly in hot water, and, each week, you can vacuum and use a damp cloth or cleaning spray on surfaces.

Dehumidifying the air may also help, and there are a few replacements you can make in your home to reduce your exposure to dust mites, too.

For more information on getting rid of dust mites in your bedroom, read over the tips in this graphic.

It might seem like this is quiet a few steps, but doing it regularly makes it go faster.
