This healthier homemade Chick-Fil-A sauce is perfect for dipping EVERYTHING in! And great for football season!
My entire family is addicted to Chick-Fil-A sauce!
When we go there, we get multiple packets of it for spreading on our chicken sandwiches and dipping our fries in. It is so good!
The thing I don’t like about it is the dozens of ingredients it contains 🙁 A friend of mine sent me a homemade recipe for it years ago, but I finally decided to make it.
It turned out great, so we are sharing it with you today! Since we are finally in football season, this is the perfect recipe to make and try. You can truly dip anything and everything in it. You can head to instagram stories to see how we use it.
Healthier Homemade Chick-Fil-A Sauce Recipe
- 1/4 cup + 1 Tbsp Mayo
- 2 tbsp Honey
- 1 tbsp Yellow Mustard
- 2 tsp Fresh Lemon
- 2 tbsp BBQ Sauce
- 2 tsp Dijon Mustard
- Whisk ingredients together in a bowl until combined.
- Chill for a few hours before using.
- Store in the refrigerator for 1 week.
BBQ Sauce Options
There are so many BBQ sauce options available, but I think the Chick-Fil-A sauce with honey BBQ sauce adds the perfect flavor. You can also try a hickory or smoked BBQ sauce.
If you would like less sugar in the mix, you can also try a sugar free BBQ sauce, like this one.
If you want less tang:
This homemade chick-fil-a sauce is a little tangier than the traditional version. My family prefers it tangy, but you can eliminate the Dijon mustard and add in more mayo if desired. The Dijon is a little spicier in taste, so it adds some tang.
I don’t recommend eliminating the lemon juice because it really gives it a good freshness and keeps the sauce fresh longer in the fridge.
What we use homemade chick-fil-a sauce for:
We use it on just about everything. My favorite way to use it is for sweet potato fries! It is such a great combination.
You can also put it on sandwiches, burgers, and use it for dipping vegetables in.
Is this sauce dairy-free?
Yes! This is dairy-free! I love to use this mayonnaise because it has great ingredients, but also dairy-free. Double check your mayo ingredients to make sure it doesn’t contain dairy if you can’t have it. Most don’t contain any milk, but I have seen a few that do.
What about a paleo version?
You can make this Paleo by choosing a paleo approved BBQ sauce. The mayo I use is Paleo approved, but the BBQ sauce is what you need to check on. You can find Paleo BBQ sauce online, I have used this one from Amazon. Keep in mind this type of BBQ is not sweet, so you will need to adjust sweetness.
Honey is not considered Paleo either, so you will need to swap that out for a Paleo approved sweetner. Making those changes can help you make this sauce Paleo approved 🙂
I recommend using a honey BBQ sauce if you don’t want to change up the recipe.
I hope you enjoy this recipe!! Please tag me on Instagram if you make it 🙂 #chemistrycachet

This sounds yummy. I haven’t had Chick-Fil-A since I visited Nashville many years ago. The chain is just breaking into my state/area.

Chick-Fil-A is big in the south! They have the best food and also a fun place for kids to play (which no other place in my town has!). Hope you can get one nearby soon!
