- Let it sit for 5 minutes.
- Scrub in a circular motion.
- Remove with a warm microfiber cloth or regular cloth.
How often to use this?
You can use this 2-3 times a week all autumn and winter long! You can really use this all year too, but I love it in the autumn and winter months when my lips are really dry. I like to do it at night after washing my face along with my other skincare routine.
If you refrigerate leftovers..
I usually just pop the bowl in the fridge if I have extra, but keep in mind it will harden a little. When you go to use it again, I would either sit it out on the counter for a few minutes or microwave for just about 5 seconds. It will make it easier to rub onto your lips if the solution is softer.
How does this DIY pumpkin spice lip mask work?
This lip mask is very simple, but the ingredients and science work together to soften, brighten, and plump your lips!
Here are some of the highlights:
Pumpkin Puree
Pumpkin not only smells wonderful, but it has so many benefits for your skin. This includes the lips. With different enzymes and vitamins in it, it helps soften lips and gets rid of dry skin. We did an in-depth breakdown of pumpkin for your skin in this post for you to check out! We share the chemistry of pumpkin puree and all the elements.
Brown Sugar
Sugar is a great physical exfoliant. Brown sugar is used in this recipe because the smell goes perfect with the pumpkin and coffee. Having a physical exfoliant is important for a lip scrub and lip mask. Plus, brown sugar is very gentle, so it is perfect for the lip area.
Coffee Grounds
Coffee grounds have several benefits for your skin. First, the caffeine is great for your skin, and it can help to plump up your lips. Caffeine is a common ingredient in many skincare products. It is also one of the main components in our DIY eye mask recipe. It plumps under your eyes and lightens dark circles. For lips, it will help them feel soft and plump too! Make sure you use regular coffee grounds to get the benefits, not decaf. Coffee grounds also help exfoliate!
Jojoba Oil
Jojoba is an amazing oil for all areas of your skin because it is very gentle, hypoallergenic, and one of the best oils for dry skin. It also combines well with other ingredients to make it a great consistency since it isn’t too oily. Jojoba is a thinner oil, so it works really great for your lips! You can substitute almond oil or sunflower seed oil for this recipe, but I wouldn’t use coconut oil for this particular solution.
Pumpkin Spice Essential Oil
The benefit of the oil in this recipe is going to mainly be for added scent, but using a pumpkin spice essential oil can provide additional benefits. Since cinnamon and clove are usually in a pumpkin spice essential oil, those also help plump your lips making a great lip mask! This recipe smells great without the oil, but I love adding a few drops to make it smell even better 🙂
I think you will really enjoy this homemade pumpkin spice latte lip scrub and lip mask! It is easy to make, fun to use, and will really help your lips stay soft and dry this autumn and winter!
