Tomorrow is December, the beginning of the most magical month of the year. As a little girl, this was the time of year I dreamed about for months. I love remembering the magic of childhood, especially those Christmas memories. Were you totally in love with Christmas as a kid too?
Confession though, I am still in love with Christmas!
I just love this month and the joy of this season! I will be sharing some really beautiful Christmas inspiration the next few weeks that you will love!
Until then, let’s talk about this hot chocolate hazelnut coffee that you can make in 5 minutes! It is a recipe that I actually came up with earlier this year and I shared my iced version this summer. Can you believe that this is the most popular pin on my blog? It has thousands of pins, and even more repins!!!!!
Sometimes I wonder why a particular recipe or post gets the most pins and I always go back to that particular recipe and study it a bit. I think everyone went crazy over this for a few reasons.
First of all, I think everyone loves chocolate. Right? I mean, it is the ultimate feel good, decadent treat. Second, everyone loves a fast recipe they can make at the drop of a hat. When I am searching for a recipe, I am completely turned off by lengthy ones, that require too many steps.
That is why I love sharing super easy, delicious, and good for you treats! This chocolate hazelnut coffee fits the bill for all of those points and I think that is why everyone loves it. The original picture was not good and I decided to share it last minute because it was just too good not too.
PIN THIS: HOT CHOCOLATE HAZELNUT COFFEE IN 5 MINUTES!
Let’s revisit it now, and make it hot and cozy for December!
Hot Chocolate Hazelnut Coffee in 5 Minutes!
- 8 oz strong coffee
- 3/4 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk (or milk of your choice)
- 1/2 tsp hazelnut extract (My favorite Hazelnut Extract)
- 1 tbsp hazelnut coffee syrup
- 1 tsp cocoa powder (try dutch process for a richer flavor!)
- 2 packets of stevia (or sweetener of choice)
Directions:
In a bowl, mix up the milk, cocoa powder, sweetener, and extracts until well combined. Slightly warm over stove top, or microwave. In a mug (a BIG mug), add the milk mixture.
Top it off with your hot coffee!
Add more or less sweetener to taste!
Chemist Tip:
The extract is what gives this coffee a rich flavor, you can eliminate it if you don’t have it, but it won’t be as flavorful.
Be sure to read this awesome post on cocoa powders to see why you should use dutch cocoa! It makes this recipe incredibly amazing!
Obviously the tree was the background to this photo shoot, but just to the left was this little photo bomber. The entire time I was working on these photos, he was chewing very seriously on his bone. Ruger has this thing with the Christmas tree. First off, my tree skirt will never be perfectly straight again.
See more bulldog love on my instagram!
He likes to wedge himself under the tree, and he pushes the skirt back. I will be cleaning or working in the office, and when I come into the living room, there he will be under the tree chewing on his toys.
Sometimes, he will just stare at it too 😉
Notice the bone and toys he keeps under the tree! Ah, the life of a dog mom lol.

Hazelnut coffee is a perfect choice for a warm, lazy day. I love the scent of hazelnut coffee. But I never really knew how to make a good cup of coffee. Brewed coffee is generally tastes better than regular instant coffee. Glad I found this.
