I was cleaning my bathroom rug a few days ago when I realized I have never shared my tip on how to remove hair from a rug in minutes!

It is SO simple, and I have been doing this for years. It never fails!

With the holidays approaching, you probably want to get your house ready for guests that might be coming over. This quick cleaning tip will help with that!

How to Remove Hair From A Rug in Minutes!

I don’t know about you, but I absolutely HATE when I step out of the shower onto my cozy bathroom rug and feel HAIR on my feet. It is probably my biggest pet peeve!

Most women shed hair when we blow dry or brush our hair, so you will always find it on the floor. Soft fluffy rugs seem to catch all the hair too! Over the years, I have tried all types of methods to get hair out. You’d think vacuuming would do it, but even the expensive, high powered vacuums can’t quite get that deep embedded hair.

This method for removing hair from your rugs is so quick, and works every time! I started sharing this on instagram the other day and thought a blog post would be good too!

What You Need: Handheld Squeegee

Here’s What You Do: Simply use the squeegee on your rug just like you would use it on a window! As You start moving down the rug, use short quick strokes. Next thing you know, it will bring the hair down with it! Sometimes, you don’t even realize how much hair is in your rug until you do this! It will ball up any hair left on your rugs!

What Type of Squeegee?

The handheld ones work best! I also prefer a sturdy one. If you have one on hand already, you can use that too. Just remember, the handheld sturdy ones will work best for this.

What Type Of Hair?

This works great for human hair AND dog hair! My bulldog has very short, thick hair. It can get stuck in rugs very easily, but is almost impossible to get out with a vacuum. This method gets all the dog hair out really good.

After Using the Squeegee

Once you have done this to your carpet and removed the hair, you can then vacuum the rug for any loose pieces.

Is It Just For Rugs?

Nope! You can try this on rugs, carpets, or any furniture fabric. This method is more so geared towards thick rugs or carpets, but it can also help with couches or chairs.

The Chemistry Behind This:

Well, there isn’t much chemistry to share with you on today’s tip! 🙂 This is just a fun household cleaning tip I love to use and wanted to share with my readers!

What a great tip! I have medium pile carpet in the main areas of the house but small throw rugs in the bathroom. I used to use a broom on the thick pile carpet at my other home, and boy did that pull everything up! Wonder if this will work on the microfiber cover of the dog bed. Daisy has wiry short hairs. Great tip!

Thanks Laurie! This works so good for getting Ruger’s hair up which is also very short and thick. I’ve used it on microfiber too and it worked! I bet it would work for her bed cover 🙂

I just wanted to thank you for the helpful tips. Especially the one about using cream of tartar to clean stains from the toliet and bath-tub. We have a well and a water softener, however we have a lot of iron in our water. I enjoy reading your tips. You are one smart cookie, and baby Amelia is adorable!!!!!
