Today, I want to share a quick little post with you on how to use eye cream the right way!
You might be thinking, there is a right and wrong way??
There is a lot more to eye cream than you might know, so let’s talk more about it to make sure you are doing the right steps and getting the most out of your product.
Something I have really enjoyed doing as an investigative chemist is not only researching the best ingredients for the best results, but also what applications help you get the most benefit out of your products! This goes for skincare products or household products. Sometimes it is not just the ingredients, but the application of something to help you get results!
How To Use Eye Cream The Right Way
To understand why you need an eye cream, you first need to understand why the eye area is different!
The skin under and around your eye is very thin, more so than any area on your body! Due to the thin texture, your eye area is likely to show age faster plus pigments. This is why dark circles are such a problem for people in general. Did you know that the eye area also doesn’t have as many oil glands as other areas of your face or body?
Eyes in general are more prone to dryness for this reason.
You can start taking care of your under eye area now to not only protect, but correct skin issues. My favorite under eye cream is having a FLASH SALE now for 45% with code alexisroch so take advantage of this while you can (you can get 45% off everything right now too!!) I recommended this eye cream to my friend several months ago, and she shared these pictures with me of her before and after. I was so impressed with her results. She said I could share this with you:
Here is a simple guide on using eye cream the right way:
I learned from my eye doctor many years ago that the thin skin around your eyes needs less product to be effective. I was suffering from eczema on my eyelid since I was a young teenager. He prescribed some medicine, and he said the key was using LESS product for this type of skin to absorb it correctly.
Tip #1: Use a Pea Sized Amount
Whenever I share an IG story or video, people comment on the small amount of product I use. Using a pea sized amount and dividing it between each eye is just the right amount of solution. Like I mentioned above, I learned from my eye doctor that less is more when it comes to eye care.
Tip# 2: Apply With Gentle Presses and Dabs
Use your ring finger or pointer finger to very gently press and dab the product starting in the corner of your eye and working towards your crows feet area. Then, dab up around the top part of your eye and under your eyebrow. I do this motion several times until the product is absorbed.
Tip # 3 Look For An Actual Eye Cream That Treats Under Eye Issues
One of the most asked questions I have received about eye cream is do I need one? When it comes to basic moisturizing, you can actually use your face cream if it is good quality. I use Good Science Beauty’s Hydrating Face Cream, and you can bring this to your under eye area. If you want to treat dark circles and aging, look for an eye cream that will correct this. I have been using this eye cream (code alexisroch) for about a year now, and it works for aging, firming, dark circles, hydration, and overall brightening.
Tip #4 Use Eye Cream Day and Night
I use my eye cream each morning and every night. This helps you get the best results keeping it on your skin several times a day. If you use a lighter eye cream, it will do well under makeup without flaking or being too oily. This is another reason I love the Brighten Me (code alexisroch) under eye cream.
Tip #5 Eye Serum and Eye Cream Are Different
Several months ago, I started using this eye serum in ADDITION to eye cream. I think they work together so good! The eye serum contains caffeine which narrows blood vessels and minimizes the appearance of dark circles. This serum also has a great addition of niacinamide which softens wrinkles and tightens skin. I haven’t done a full blog post on this eye serum yet, but I will soon because I have really liked it after two months of use! Stay tuned for that. The serum is light weight and more watery than an eye cream, but doesn’t moisturize was well. So, you still need to use an eye cream if you use an eye serum!
Tip #6 Some Eye Creams Work Instantly AND LONG Term
Another thing about eye creams is how they work both short term and long term. Eye creams can tighten and plump the area within several minutes, but can also heal and fade dark circles over the span of a few months. It is always a good idea to allow at least 28-30 days to see results. I also recommend giving a product two months total to see how it will really work for your skin. I have been using the Brighten Me under eye cream for a year now, and I saw results within just a few weeks. But the long term use has really softened wrinkles, tightened the skin, and it has also faded my genetic dark circles!
Combinational Treatments Can Give You The Most Youthful Appearance
I think using a good quality eye cream is the key to healing your under eye area. Using a daily eye targeted solution can fade dark circles, tighten skin, soften wrinkles, and make sure you are nourishing the delicate skin in this area.
If you want to take it a step further, add in an eye serum like I mentioned in Tip #5! And if you want to to take it even further, try a unique instant results serum. This liquid face lift and eye tuck product is so cool! It is a temporary, but super quick eye treatment you can use daily. I started using this product recently also, and it is amazing! I will share a blog post on this soon too, but I wanted to mention it in this eye cream post so you can have the most success with youthful eye skin 🙂 When I first got the liquid eye tuck in, I added it to my right under eye area. My husband said my eyes looked the way they did when I was 18…It was really amazing to see.
In Conclusion:
The under eye area is a delicate and different type of skin that requires a particular product to correct and heal. Using a good quality and purposeful under eye cream is the ideal start to taking care of this area.
You can take it one step further by adding in a functional serum, and then even top it off with a instant plumping solution for an even more youthful appearance!
