how to use roman chamomile essential oil

Today on Chemistry Cachet we have a fun post on how to use roman chamomile essential oil for skin and health!

This is the perfect post to share during the Christmas season and as we approach the end of the year. Roman Chamomile is a fantastic scent for winter and the new year! Plus, is has some really neat uses you might not be aware of.

Have you heard of roman chamomile? It isn’t as well-known as some of the main stream oils, but it is definitely one to add to your collection! I have really been enjoying it, and everyone who comes into my home keeps asking what the wonderful smell is 🙂

Let’s get started!

How to Use Roman Chamomile Essential Oil For Skin and Health

A Little About Gya Labs Essential Oils

One of the most asked questions regarding essential oils we get on Chemistry Cachet is what brand can I use? I get emails from readers all the time wondering if they can use this brand or that brand for around the home.

I am always trying and testing out new products for readers so I can find the best options for you. I was excited to try out Gya Labs essential oil because they are a team of biochemists, researchers, perfumists, aromatherapists, designers and nature lovers. Their products are 100% natural and pure, and their products are high quality. The best part is they are affordable! They have great reviews on Amazon with all their products, and good customer service too. These are all things that matter to our readers!

Gya Labs sent me this bottle of roman chamomile to try for you, and I was very impressed with the quality. After using it for awhile, I knew it was something I needed to share with Chemistry Cachet readers.

First, we will take a look into a little science going on behind the scenes with roman chamomile, then we will talk about all the ways you can start using it today. Be sure to read the entire post since we also have a coupon for you 🙂

What exactly is roman chamomile essential oil?

This oil comes from the dried flowers of chamomile. There are two main varieties people inquire about: roman chamomile vs german chamomile. They have different uses, but our post today is all about roman chamomile which comes from the variety Chamaemelum nobile.

The Main Scientific Compounds In Roman Chamomile Essential Oil

The reason behind how anything works is all about the chemistry behind it! The active substances in Roman Chamomile are are terpenoids, chamazulene, bisabolol, flavonoids, quercetin, apigenin, luteolin, coumarins, scopoletin-7-glucoside, and some other components like fatty acids.

There has been many studies performed on chamazulene which degrades to matricin. It has a high anti-inflammatory level.

This article from the Journal of Applied Pharmaceutical Science also goes into detail on the anti-microbial benefits of chamomile essential oils.

Further more, this in-depth scientific study lists some incredible evaluations of chamomile including wound healing, gastric issues, eczema, anticancer activity, cold symptoms, and more!

Needless to say, there is quit a bit of science going on with roman chamomile essential oil.

Roman Chamomile Oil Benefits

After looking at a few scientific studies above, you can see there is so many potential benefits for your health.

Here are some of the top benefits:

Sleep Aide

If you diffuse this oil or inhale it, it can help relax you, but also promote healthy sleep. It is very common to use for sleep and night time use.

Upset Stomach

After doing research on this oil, I decided to try it out for an upset stomach. It is great at calming down the nausea feeling! Inhale or diffuse this oil to help with an upset stomach.

Anxiety

Just like with using this as a sleep aide, it can also calm anxiety in children and adults.

Calming Scent

The scent alone is so nice to have throughout the home. It is very calming in general. It has a slight tea scent, just like you would think with chamomile. I also smelled a little bit of a cinnamon or spice.

My husband walked into the kitchen when I was diffusing this, and he couldn’t get over how fresh it smelled!

Gentle For Those Who Have Breathing Issues

I have to be very aware of essential oils around my mom who has asthma. Things like wintergreen, pine, or fur will trigger an asthma attack for her! Since she helps out so much, I make sure to use things safe for her. I have been using this oil, and it doesn’t bother her breathing at all. It is gentle and mild, but also has a great scent. This oil makes a safe option for those who might have sensitivities to oils.

Roman Chamomile Essential Oil for Skin

The interesting thing about essential oils is how easy you can incorporate them into skincare. In fact, many essential oils are found in natural skincare products because of how well they work!

Roman Chamomile essential oil has some great uses for your skin!

Here are my favorite benefits:

Treat Blemishes

In the science section we noted the high anti-inflammatory and anti-fungal benefits of roman chamomile. This makes it a great addition to your skin for treating blemishes! It can minimize the appearance of acne and also treat it. You can add a few drops this oil to your face wash, or add a few drops to toner and apply to face.

Helps Aging Skin

Essential oils make a great option for aging skin due to the high levels of antioxidants. Roman chamomile can help aging skin look more youthful and radiant. You can use a few drops on face cream or to your toner like we mentioned above.

Skin Inflammation

The chamazulene we talked about in the science section is a very popular substance for treating a variety of skin issues including inflammation. This can be anything from redness to pimples!

Where Can You Buy Gya Labs?

I purchase it on Amazon,  there is also a a 5% off coupon you can use right now for this oil.

It is the perfect essential oil for December and the rest of winter, but also one you can enjoy all year long.

I keep this on hand in my bathroom now to incorporate into skincare. I think you will enjoy using it too! Here is a link to my diffuser for those who asked.

+ This post was sponsored by Gya Labs, but all opinions are my own.

I never heard of this before. I’m very intrigued and curious. Can this oil but used straight (undiluted) or does it have to be diluted w a carrier oil for topical applications. I’d love to diffuse it to freshen the house; this cold and damp weather is leaving a stale scent in my house. And is it safe for me to use around my dog if I were to diffuse it? Thanks for all the research and work you do on this blog. ❤️

I think it is best to dilute it with a carrier oil, but I also just like adding a few drops to the products I am already using! It is such a great smell for the house! I use it with Ruger around the house, and he doesn’t mind it. It is safe for pets 🙂 Thanks Laurie!!

Is this something that can be added to cleaning products (diy) . When you say you use it around the house, is that in a diffuser?

Just ordered some for my diffuser. What do you think about their Frankincense oil? It’s really inexpensive compared to Doterra.

I have not used their Frankincense yet, but I am very pleased with the quality of their oils. Here is a post from my homemade joint cream with some frankincense options.
