Many readers have recently asked about the effectiveness of The Pink Stuff carpet and upholstery stain cleaner. Since it’s been a while since our last cleaning product review, I decided to put it to the test.
Though still unavailable on Amazon, I found it at Walmart and purchased a container.
Here’s a breakdown of my experience and the surfaces I tested it on.
How Well Does The Pink Stuff Carpet and Upholstery Stain Cleaner Work?
One of the reasons readers have asked me to try this out is we have shared several articles about The Pink Stuff scrub. The first article, I tested out this viral cleaning product to see if it really lived up to the hype.
And it actually did!
Next, I shared information on it in this post about our glass shower door cleaning hacks. This post went viral several times last year making The Pink Stuff one of our number one selling recommendations from Chemistry Cachet.
This brand has many other products which I have been trying out. This one has sparked interest from readers, so I wanted to do a post on how I have used it and the results. I hope it is helpful!

What I Tried This Cleaner On?
For my testing, I targeted two carpets with particularly stubborn stains.
The kitchen rug had mud and food stains from my toddler, and the bathroom rug was covered in toothpaste marks from both kiddos. Both had resisted basic cleaning methods like soap and water. I selected these surfaces because they presented a significant challenge, allowing me to see how well this product really worked!
How To Use The Pink Stuff Carpet and Upholstery Cleaner?
To use this cleaner, begin by removing the safety seal.
Gently squeeze the bottle to apply the solution through the sponge applicator, avoiding over saturation. Scrub the stain until the solution foams, which is essential for cleaning.
After allowing it to sit for three minutes ( I only waited a few minutes though), wipe away any excess with a damp microfiber cloth.
Here is how it worked for me:
For the rug with mud and food stains, it worked pretty well. It worked 100% for the food stains, and it worked probably about 90% for the mud. The mud was definitely embedded deep into the fibers, so it might take more than one treatment. It faded it though!
For the rug with toothpaste stains, it worked 100%! It quickly cleaned the stuck on toothpaste and even fluffed the rug a little bit.
I really loved how nice it smelled too. It says it will also work for odors, so it might make a great option for pet stains.
The application of the sponge was really handy too. It has bristles and a sponge, so you can really scrub deep stains on your carpets or upholstery.
What I didn’t like about The Pink Stuff Carpet and Upholstery Stain Cleaner:
The solution comes out pretty fast, so you have to be careful. You don’t want to oversaturate the stain, so you have to be careful with that part.
Otherwise, I loved it! In fact, I think this would make a handy staple for your home. While I love my upholstery cleaner, sometimes you want a quicker option for cleaning a carpet stain. This is a small container, so it would be really easy to keep with your cleaning supplies.
Would I buy it again?
Yes! I think this is something handy and can be used in a pinch when you get something on a carpet, rug or upholstery. I mentioned I have used several things to clean the stains on my rugs that didn’t work, so since this worked pretty well, I would buy it again.
Science Behind Ingredients:
They do not have the MSDS for this product on their website, but they do have a foaming carpet and upholstery cleaner, I am assuming it is a similar product…just a different application. One of their key ingredients is quartz. It is the star ingredient in their pink scrub. This also has sodium per carbonate in it which is a powdered hydrogen peroxide. If you need the MSDS for this, you can email the company. I have done that before!
Conclusion:
I love testing out products for my readers. I think this handy The Pink Stuff carpet and upholstery stain cleaner is a great option for your home. It is portable, affordable, and worked great my cleaning needs!
Let me know if you try it out.
