Easy Mexican Restaurant Garden Salsa
I have got an amazing, fresh summer recipe for you today! This recipe is slightly adapted from an old fiend whose parents owned a Mexican food restaurant.

When my husband was in the Marines, we were stationed near San Diego for many years. There was always some kind of event going on that always turned in to a potlock situation. I always made my cookies! Anyways, this friend I mentioned always brought this awesome salsa. You know, the kind you literally can’t stop eating once you start? It was always a huge hit. For years we begged him for the recipe, but he always said no it’s my parents restaurant recipe!

On their last day being stationed with us, they stayed at our house for the night before they took off down the road to their new future. When we woke up that morning they were gone, but they had left us a note on our fridge. On that note was the ingredients to the salsa! Now, each time we make this recipe, we always think of them. Over the years, we’ve adapted it to our taste to make it the perfect pairing for any taco night! Bonus, it only has 6 main ingredients, the rest is just usual pantry spices!

Mexican Restaurant Fresh Garden Salsa

♥ 8 Ripe roma tomatoes
♥1/2 large white onion (or 1 small)
♥ 1 jalapeno (we add more if they are weak, add more or less to taste)
♥1 small bunch of cilantro
♥8 oz of tomato sauce (we like the kind with some good spices already in)
♥1 lime, juiced

Spices used: Garlic powder (could also use fresh garlic gloves), onion powder, salt, pepper, cumin

In a food processor, or good blender, blend all top five ingredients until desired consistency. We like it mostly smooth, with a few tiny chunks. Next, squeeze the juice of the lime, and add in spices. We recommend, heavy salt and cumin, then some garlic, onion, and pepper. Depending on how fresh your ingredients are, you may need more spice just to jazz it up. Taste after each spice addition to see what you need. That is the beauty of this salsa, you can add the spices to your taste.

Enjoy right away, or let it sit in fridge overnight. It is even better the next day!

We make this all the time, and I love how cheap it is to make. Especially this time of year when produce is so abundant. I love recipes that involve fresh ingredients and that are easy! Easy is the name of the game for us! Are you a chips and salsa fan?

Awesome! I hope you like it! We love a lot of salt and garlic, although the last batch we made everything was so fresh we didn’t need as much salt! This would go great with that avocado recipe you posted recently 🙂

This looks delicious! We just made a batch of chunky salsa last week – hand chopped – but this would be a great variation. tastes good on rice and fish. Have a great day.

Sometimes we hand chop, but I love a good processor to give it that restaurant texture! Your right it would be great on rice or fish, we also put it on eggs 🙂

I like how simple this is. I feel like done people make salsa too much of a production. Throw stuff in a blender, few staple spices and you’re done. Perfect! Thanks for sharing!
