We are sharing the best Halloween movies for kids and adults with you today!

Many of our movies listed here are so fun for the entire family, others will be great for the adults to enjoy.

I love all of these movies! It is a tradition each year for us to watch them during the month of October to really get in the autumn spirit 🙂

The Best Halloween Movies For Kids and Adults

The Best Halloween Movies For Kids and Adults

Before we start, make sure you follow us and join in on Instagram. We post fun stories and pictures daily you will enjoy!

Hocus Pocus

This is number one on the list because it is my number one favorite movie this time of year! It is perfect in every way, plus 1993 was an awesome year! Everyone has heard of Hocus Pocus, but if you have never really watched it, you should do so this year! It is so charming and fun.

The minute it is October, we have this movie on weekly. Make some homemade kettle corn, light all the candles and watch it!

Scream Trilogy

Although the first one is the best, it is one of my favorite murder series! I remember watching is for the first time in 7th grade and it was the first horror movie I had really watched before. Definitely not for the kids, but fun for the adults. I love the late 90s nostalgia feel it has. This is one of the few trilogies where all the movies are cohesive and enjoyable too.

Sleepy Hollow

This is the epitome of fall and Halloween. I love the ambiance of the movie too, perfect for a crisp autumn night! This is pretty fun for older kids to watch. If you want something better for younger children, try this Disney version, Ichabod and Mr. Toad. It is a cute little story of sleepy hollow.

Halloween – The Original One

The music alone symbolizes Halloween, so it has to be watched every year! I don’t like the remake at all, way to graphic. The original version with Jamie Lee Curtis is the way to go. We always make a night out of it with all the candles lit, popcorn, pumpkin maple lattes, and candy!

Monster House

This is such a cute, fun movie. It reminds me of how I was at that age. We have a tradition of carving pumpkins, watching this movie, and roasting the seeds. We started this when we lived in our first apartment and we have done it every year since! It is definitely a kids movie, but the adults love it too!

What Lies Beneath

This isn’t strictly a Halloween movie, but I love to watch it this time of year. It is one of my favorite movies! Perfect ghost story with the best autumn ambiance 🙂

Arsenic and Old Lace

Most of my friends have never heard of this one, but it is a really fun black and white with Cary Grant. I love anything Frank Capra has made, but this one is perfect for Halloween. Not only is it a little spooky in a fun way, but it is also hysterical! I laugh every time I watch it. It is hard to find this DVD, so you can buy it in this four pack which comes with three other fun movies.

Ghost Breakers

This movie is so funny and spooky! Bob Hope is hysterical in this, and we love watching it every October. I love old black and white movies like this.

Urban Legend

So 90s, but it reminds me of being in high school! We would always watch this movie. My friend and I get together this time of year to make caramel apples, eat candy and watch this!

Death Becomes Her

This is another Halloween, fallish movie I love! Not many people have heard of this movie, but the acting is great! And it is just a little spooky for a chilly October night.

Harry Potter Series

Harry Potter isn’t strictly Halloween, but our favorite time to watch it is every autumn! The ambiance, music, and theme is perfect for Halloween! We love all of the movies!

There are so many other movies we watch for Halloween, but looking back on the last 10 years, these are always in rotation!

I just set the DVR to record Hocus Pocus over the weekend, can you believe I’ve never seen it all the way through? But you better believe I already watched The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown 🙂

Oh, you go scary! I just don’t have the stomach for scary stuff so I celebrate Halloween like a seven year old. I think Casper is as scary as I go haha

My kind of fun too! My kids were little when Hocus Pocus came out and we all loved it- in fact we got to see it at our local drive-in theater! I have watched the Scream movies and get a kick out of them. I’m not familiar with Urban Legends. There is another somewhat unknown made for tv movie called The Midnight Hour. It has good music and is fun (like Hocus Pocus is) It is for sale on Amazon and I saw a couple of links to watch it on the computer too. I have to get a dose of the old black and white Frankenstein movies each year and of course the classic Young Frankenstein! I always watch the Michael Myers- Halloween movies but I agree the first is the best. That music is forever in your mind!

How fun that you got to see it at the drive in! If you like scream, you will definitely enjoy Urban Legends! I haven’t head of the midnight hour, but it sounds like fun, I will have to check it out! Thanks Liz!

Hocus Pocus! I just watched that this weekend for the first time since my childhood. Not nearly as scary as I remember it.

I never actually saw it as a child, but watched it for the first time in high school and instantly fell in love! 🙂
