This is the ultimate list of more natural non-toxic dryer sheet options!

Readers have been asking for more laundry posts over the last year or so.

We share this post last year of some of our favorite natural laundry products. Be sure to check that out for more inspiration!

Today, we are talking all about dryer sheets though! Dryer sheets have been a topic in the media and online the last several years. Traditional dryer sheets contain dozens of toxic chemicals, so people are wanting better options.

Dryer sheets are so convenient and my favorite way to reduce static when drying clothes. I have tried numerous things, including homemade options, for the dryer, and I still prefer dryer sheets.

Luckily, there are many options now for more natural non-toxic dryer sheets!

So, let’s begin this great post!

The Ultimate List of More Natural Non-Toxic Dryer Sheet Options

For the last few months, I have been using different non-toxic, more natural dryer sheet options for our laundry at home. Last year, I actually purchased Bounce’s hypoallergenic dryer sheet to start testing things out. It was the only option my store had, so I started with this brand.

I headed to Amazon to check out the highest rated more natural non-toxic dryer sheet options they had, and purchased them ALL! I wanted to see which ones worked best and smelled best.

When it comes to using more natural products, you are going to pay a little more, so it is important to find one you love!

This is my review of each one. At the end of this post, I will let you know which one is our favorite! I also threw in a baby dryer sheet option too 🙂

Bounce Hypoallergenic Dryer Sheets

I am starting with this one because you can probably find it at your store. I love the simple fresh scent it has! It does a good job of removing lint from clothes along with reducing static. Something I noticed was the sheets are thicker and you will find them stuck to your clothes once cycle is done. Regular dryer sheets become very thin once a drying cycle is done, these don’t.

Overall, very affordable and good for sensitive skin.

Mrs. Meyers Dryer Sheets

Mrs. Meyers is a great brand for a more natural non-toxic product when it comes to cleaning. I tried out two different scents of their dryer sheets. The honeysuckle and the geranium scent. Two of my favorite flower smells! Mrs. Meyers is a bit pricier than the Bounce, but still not as high as some.

Both the honeysuckle and geranium scents I’ve used smell AMAZING!! Everyone walks into my house mentions the wonderful scent. The thing I liked most about this was how well the scent lasted even after the drying cycle was done. You can use them for other things like wiping down walls.

Seventh Generation Dryer Sheets

This is a very popular green brand for cleaning products, so I had to test out their dryer sheets. I bought these from Amazon Pantry, so they were only $4.75. Great price compared to many other brands!

These dryer sheets are much softer than the others. It doesn’t have much of a scent through, it smells simple and fresh. This is a great option for those who have sensitive skin or don’t like scent (note they have scented options available).

Beyond Natural Dryer Sheets

This brand had high ratings, and I loved the gardenia scent (update, they now have only the fresh linen scent which is also good) option. A little pricier. A box of 40 was $6.00, but I had to test them out!

First, they smelled AMAZING! Such a fresh garden scent. They also worked really well. The box was small, so you don’t get a lot for the price. However, these would be nice to keep on hand for special things or when guest come.

Sun and Earth Natural Non-Toxic Dryer Sheets

This is another brand that had high ratings on Amazon. I went with the fresh lavender scent because I love lavender! It comes in a box of 80 count (typical dryer sheet size) which was close to $10.

The lavender scent smells really nice and subtle, not overpowering. It did a good job of removing lint too. These dryer sheets didn’t hold their scent very long. Once load was finished, the dryer sheet didn’t have a scent, but they worked good!

Grab Green Stoneworks Dryer Sheets

This brand also had good ratings, so it is next on the list of a more natural, non-toxic dryer sheet option. I loved their scent options! I went with the rose petal one. They are sold as a 3-pack on Amazon for a little over $18 (so a little over $5 each).

These have a wonderful rose scent! I love the smell of roses, so I loved these. They held their scent well too. After a load of laundry, the dryer sheets still smelled great.

Better Life Natural Dryer Sheets

For this brand I went with the lavender grapefuit scent (I love this combination). A traditional 80 count box is a little over $7 on Amazon.

The scent is very mild and subtle, so if you prefer a light scent, this is a great option. Overall, they worked really good!

Babyganics Dryer Sheets

Babyganics is a great brand for natural baby items. I had to give their dryer sheets a try for Amelia 🙂 We went with the lavender scent option. A box of 120 count was $6.88, so this is a really good price for a natural, non-toxic dryer sheet!

These smell just like lavender essential oil! Identical to it in fact. They hold their scent well even after load is finished. These are great for baby clothes!

My Favorite More Natural Non-Toxic Dryer Sheet Options

All of these are good products, but my favorite one was the Mrs. Meyers Honeysuckle and Geranium. They did such a good job of removing lint, but the scent was the best part. My clothes smelled so wonderful including my laundry room too.

If you like SOFT dryer sheets, I would go with the bounce or seventh generation brand. Keep in mind, these don’t have much of a scent, but the sheets are soft!

Did you try one of these dry sheets? Let us know!

If you try one of these brands out, I would love for you to tag me on instagram so I can see! Also use the hashtag #chemistrycachet

Homemade Dryer Sheet Options:

Many readers have asked me if there is a DIY dryer sheet option I have tried. There are a few I have tested, but I have not done a blog post yet. I recommend this post from The Spruce on making your own dryer sheet.

What About Using Wool Dryer Balls?

We love wool dryer balls! They also make a great option. We wrote a long and detailed blog post all about wool dryer balls here.

I hope you enjoyed this list of more natural non-toxic dryer sheet options you can try!

The ears and skin folds are usually the culprit along with between the toes. Too many places for yeast to hide. Another source of stinkyness is the mouth, got to stay on top of the dental cleanings usually.

If you take the folds away then you don’t have a bulldog any more though.

HI Alexis… You did a lot of testing! Do the chemicals affect your eczema or skin in general? I didn’t use dryer sheets for years because of chance of skin allergies/contact dermatitis, etc. After the dog/skunk episode last year – a friend recommended leaving a dryer sheet in my car to help with the smell. I used a 7th Generation lavender sheets. Occasionally I’ve been adding a half sheet into some of my laundry to help with static (hello fleece). BUT don’t use them if I have microfiber towels in the dryer – it coats the fibers and make them less absorptive/effective. (It says so on the towel packaging)

These natural ones don’t bother my skin at all. And my mom can use them with asthma too. They really help so much with static!! 🙂

Hi! Thank you for your research. I try to avoid them due to concerns about fragrances and other harmful ingredients.
Based on ingredients are these safe and natural? And are there concerns about the ingredients changing to something more harmful with exposure to heat?

These are all non-toxic, plant based options as well as hypoallergenic. They mainly use essential oil for fragrance. They are rated safe for babies and people with breathing issues too, so they are a good option for those who love traditional dryer sheets.

Hi, I see that you don’t have Downey as one of these and I just wonder, is it because it has toxins? I don’t know much about this kind of thing. Thanks!

As far as I know, Downey doesn’t make a gentle, non-toxic option yet. Their traditional dryer sheets contain the toxic chemicals 🙁 These options above provide the same impact of traditional dryer sheets without the toxic chemicals

I recently read about using an all natural dryer sheet over your hair to combat frizz on very humid days. Have you heard this? Which one would be totally chemical free and without a strong scent?

I think the seventh generation brand has the least scent, and it would definitely help frizz or static

I am looking for a strong smelling (odor masking?) sheet similar to Gain, to replace this exact sheet. I need a masculine scent and i noticed you favor florals. Can you recommend something?

Also you misspelled “Mrs. Meyer’s” in your article (it is not Mrs. “Myer’s”). Thought you might like to know :).

Unfortunately, the only options on this list with a strong scent are the floral scents. Mrs. Meyers and Stoneworks rose. Stoneworks also makes other scents like the Oak Tree which you might prefer. I have not used this particular scent, but the rose one had a very strong smell that lingered on clothing too. Texture wise, seventh generation and bounce are the only ones similar to traditional dryer sheets, but they do not have much scent.

Thank you so much Alexis, I will try the Oak Tree. Your site was the best of info I could find on this topic, so kudos to your endeavors here!

p.s. Perhaps i did not check to be informed if I got a response, so i just saw your response now, so sorry for the delayed “thanks”!
