We became a family of three!

A little back story of how we got our fur baby…

Growing up, I had a major crush on English Bulldogs. I blame it all on a short, stubby bulldog named Chuckwagon. He was my Great Uncle’s junk yard dog, but he totally stole my heart away.  Over the years, I grew to love them more and more. When my husband and I were still dating, circa 2005, we decided to get a dog together. Silly us! He was in the Marines and lived 800 miles away. I was in college, and not exactly a responsible adult. But I was determined to get an English Bulldog! I searched everywhere, but I couldn’t find one in our price range.

I decided to get an American Bulldog who has turned out to be one of the biggest blessings to not only us, but my parents too. You can read all about her here. Shortly after we bought her, we got married, and moved 1500 miles away to California. We couldn’t have a dog in our apartment, so Maci, the American Bulldog, stayed in Texas. She ended up filling a void for my parents while I was gone, and turned in to their best buddy.

So, the military life came and went. We moved back to Texas and were stuck in an apartment again. We continued to search for an English Bulldog, but knew it would be best to wait until we owned a home.

After we bought our first home, the search continued. I had almost given up hope of finding a bulldog. Long story short, I decided to look at the Dallas Classifieds. Saw an ad for “one puppy left!”, the next day, we brought this guy home!2014-05-20 16.06.09-1He was a little 10 lb baby then, now he is a big, chubby 80 lb boy! Ruger was truly a dream come true for me. So, how has our lives changed this past year?

Let’s just say my house will never be clean again, our days off are filled with fetch, and we will never be lonely again! I have learned more from having this guy in our lives than I ever thought possible.

We love you Ruger, thank you for bringing so much joy to our lives! Follow me on instagram to see a ton of bulldog pictures! #rugerthebulldog

Do you have a fur baby that you are head over heels for? Tell me all about it 🙂 I love connecting with other fur moms!

OMG you are so right! It is like the most difficult, yet wonderful thing you will do! He is seriously a handful 🙂 He has always had big paws lol…and now they are incredibly large. You definitely don’t want him stepping on you that is for sure!

Ruger is too cute! We have 2 kitties, Sox and Giz. They were both rescue kitties, and I just can’t imagine life without them!

We always had a cat growing up, always a stray that we adopted! Those are the best kind of cats to have 🙂
