I never thought I would write a post with this title, but this question has come up on the RA app. Many readers have also asked me this on Instagram, so I thought I would share with you some pandemic friendly activities you can do EVEN with a lower immune system.

It is a strange time we are living in, and most people aren’t able to do all the normal activities they have been enjoying for years. If you suffer from a lowered immune system, then you are probably being extra cautious right now too.

Many of these pandemic activities you have probably done or thought of, but you might find a new idea in our post today 🙂

Pandemic Friendly Activities You Can Do Even With a Lower Immune System

Pandemic Friendly Activities You Can Do Even With Lower Immune System

Something I have had to do since March is think outside the box when it comes to doing things the way I have always done them. I also had surgery a week before the pandemic was official, so I really had to rethink things!

Here is what I have been doing the last few months.

Take Walks Outside

Winter is usually the time of year I stop walking. I do NOT like the cold. But there aren’t many other options right now, so I have decided to walk anyways. I dress in layers and gloves, then get outside for a few miles. I have really enjoyed it! I go to all different places around town.

Being outside is safe and good for your spirits too.

Take Advantage of Everything Being Online

With so many places being closed or limited with the number of people who can have attend, there are so many things being offered completely online. You can take a course or get certified in something you never had the time to do before.

For instance, many of my friends who have wanted to become registered yoga instructors never had the time to go to the 10 day class that was many hours away. They are now doing it completely online for a lower price.

My Pilates teacher told me most fitness certifications are being offered all online at discounted rates.

This is true for many things. You can finally learn something new without leaving your home. And for cheaper! Do a google search and look up something you have wanted to try!

Go To a Cooking Class With Your Spouse or Friend

My husband got us a cooking class for Christmas we will be trying out soon. The great thing about these classes is they are completely pandemic friendly now. They limit the amount of people in the classes, and everyone is spread out at least 10 feet too. We contacted the place we purchased a cooking class from, and they said they only allow 2-3 couples at a time in the large space.

The classes are cheaper than usual too!

Try Safe Workout Classes As Opposed to Gyms

If you have always been a gym goer, then you are probably not able to do that right now. I know gyms are once again limited to less than 50% in our area. Gyms are hard to control the people around you too because everyone is moving around going to different equipment options or spaces.

Group fitness classes are a great option to take advantage of now. My Pilates studio, The Fit Lounge, is such a great place to be right now. The back studio is closed off, so all the classes are at the reformer. Only six people go in at a time with masks, and each reformer is spaced 9-10 feet apart. You aren’t near anyone the entire time, and they have extra ventilation too. They also have impeccable disinfecting practices, so I have always felt comfortable working out there.

You can check out small studios like this around your area. Many places are offering discounts right now and you can check out there pandemic practices too!

Go To A Drive In Movie Or Make Your Own Drive In

We have a drive in movie theater nearby which is awesome! It has always been a popular attraction to people visiting, but during the pandemic, it has become a fun thing for people to do safely! We love going! If you don’t live near one, you can make a date night and create your own drive in movie 🙂

Last month, we picked up some supper from one of our favorite restaurants. I brought my old lap top with a DVD player in it, and some Christmas movies. We parked at the park, watched a Christmas movie while we ate! It was really fun, safe, and special. We plan on doing it again soon. It is also a great activity to do during the cold winter months.

Start A Weekly Zoom Call With Extended Family

This has become a tradition for us over this past year. We do a video call with extended family, and it is a fun way to talk with everyone. We even opened up Christmas presents over zoom with some our extended family. We have also set aside time each Sunday for calls like this. We do something different each week, sometimes we even play games!

Zoom calls are one of the easiest pandemic friendly activities everyone can enjoy!

Write Letters Again to Friends or Family

If there are elderly people you haven’t been able to see or maybe friends, writing letters is a fun activity to do during this time. I have been writing letters to my sweet Grammy and decorating them. I let Amelia color pictures and we write a little something on things to. It is special and means so much to those who don’t get visitors or don’t have the internet.

You could even start a letter writing tradition to a friend again. I used to do that with some of my best friends when I moved to a different state. The neat thing about letters is you can keep them for years to come.

Make Photo Albums

I have been wanting to do this for years! Now I am in the process of printing ALL of my favorite digital photos and putting them in traditional photo albums! I love looking at photo albums from when I was a child, and I want Amelia to have ones to look back on too. Now is really the perfect time to do this!

Picnics

On our Christmas gift idea post we had a fun picnic blanket. I had many readers tell me they have started picnicking more than ever due to the pandemic! I thought that was a great idea. Even in the winter, you can bundle up and do it. Maybe even a coffee picnic date!  Or a hot chocolate picnic. You can do this for every season and come up with something special for the time of year.

Read a New Book Series Or Even Join an Online Book Club

I have had many friends tell me they have started reading again during the pandemic. I also had someone tell me they joined a Facebook book club a few months ago. I thought that was a great idea! Reading is such a great activity to do, but especially during this pandemic.

Those are my favorite pandemic friendly activities we have been enjoying this past year. And great for those of us with lower immune systems too! Be sure to join us on Instagram for more fun things.
