One of my favorite joys in life is loving the little things. Simple joys today are far better than huge, beyond belief joys of tomorrow because tomorrow is uncertain. Today is for sure!

I love to just step back and write down the things I am grateful for right now in life. Have you ever done that?

Journaled or blogged about the things you love now? I have done this for years, and the best thing is actually go back months or years later to read 🙂 So, these are simple joys today I love.

♥ My husband’s days off

He doesn’t get many days off and they rotate on different weekdays. He works in nuclear security so they have to be there at all times (makes us miss the marines). We always take advantage of the ones he has by spending as much time together. With the beautiful sunshine lately we’ve been enjoying picnics, walks, cooking out, yard work, projects, antiquing, and anything we have a notion for. It has been 7.5 years of marriage so far, and the years just get better!

♥ Bulldog baby

I love this guy so much! We have almost had him a year, and now can’t imagine life without him…he is such a loving sweetheart. Our house is no longer quite, clean, or peaceful that’s for sure. But it is totally worth it 🙂 See more of his sweet face on instagram (#rugerthebulldog )

♥ Yard work

We are total yard people and we enjoy the outdoors…so when spring hits, you can usually find us outside mowing, pulling weeds, planting plants, and other forms of torture. But we love it and hit it hard this past weekend. I can’t wait to show you how it looks now! Post coming soon on that, stay tuned!

♥The garden

We lived in apartments for years while in the marine corps. We bought our first house last year, and having my own garden was the one thing I was super excited about! It is coming along so good, and I am so inspired getting to go outside in the morning to look at the roses and flowers. Make sure to read my rose tips here and here. And geraniums tips too!

gardenphotos1♥ Working from home

With my husband’s work schedule and the fact that he works evenings, I am so glad I get to work from home. Not only blogging, but also my academic consulting business. You can read all about that here.

♥Summer is coming soon

There are so many amazing things about summer that I LOVE! Call it nostalgia from my childhood days, but I get thrilled just thinking of pool days, beach days, ball games, snow cones, and fire flies fluttering around at twilight. I have a summer bucket list coming up so I won’t go in to much detail, but I will say that I can’t wait to read by the pool soon!

What are you grateful for today?

The look your dog is giving you while you’re cooking? I’m pretty sure it’s a universal puppy dog look for any time food is out or someone is in the kitchen haha! I get the same from our dog although he’s hoping I’ll drop some on the floor.

Hope you’re having a great weekend, Alexis! 🙂 Thanks for linking up last week!

Thank you Emily! For some reason, your comment is just now showing, so sorry I didn’t respond earlier! Have a great day!
