Today we have another post on products I have completely finished, this series is called skin care products tested by.a chemist.

We have actually shared these posts for years now, the first one was in 2020.

Since many new readers find our website through these posts, I am changing the title of this series to share more on my background as a chemist and how it relates to skin care. I hope this can be more helpful to readers and future readers.

I search products and ingredients on popular skin items, then personally test them on my own skin. Once I have finished the entire bottle, I share my full review for you.

Skin Care Products Tested By a Chemist

(Skin Care Empties)

Skin Care Products Tested By a Chemist

A quick note about these skin care products tested by a chemist – many of these brands have given chemistry cachet readers a discount code to use! All Good Science Beauty, FRE, and Promise brands will have a code. I continue to reach out to brands to see if they will give our readers something 🙂

Moon Juice Moon Jelly

I have used the Moon Juice supplements before which I have shared with readers, their products are good quality. I decided to try their hyaluronic acid serum. I loved it! The thickness makes it a great hyaluronic acid option since it forms a nice layer when it you apply it to damp skin. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance found in our bodies. It’s known for its ability to hold moisture, making it a fantastic ingredient for hydrating the skin.I am always on the lookout for a hyaluronic acid serum that works, and this one makes the list.

GSB Overnight Hydrating Face Mask

I have used the GSB hydrating face mask (discount code chemistrycachet30) since they first created it, and it is a wonderful product to keep on hand. This leave-on mask delivers the unique power partnership of Marine Omega-3, Hyaluronic Acid and Good Silicon+ to strengthen the skin barrier and restore your skin’s suppleness. The consistency is jelly like, so it absorbs fast and doesn’t leave a greasy feeling to your skin. I use it every few days in between the FRE overnight facial cream I love. A good tip for this is you can also use it as a quick mask during the day. Use it in the morning for 15-30 minutes then rinse off.

FRE Moisturize Me Face Cream

This face cream (discount code alexisroch) is often praised for its ability to provide deep hydration and nourishment to the skin. If you have eczema or any type of irritation, this cream heals your skin’s barrier. It is AMAZING! I always keep this on hand in the winter months especially. I have used this since they created it in 2023. You can find the original blog post here to learn more.

FRE Firming Serum

Another popular FRE product that always makes it in my skincare empties list is their firming serum (discount code alexisroch). I use this every morning and every night. The ingredient highlights in this serum are niacinamide, hyaluronic acid, vitamin E, and their patented Argania Active Complex™. It has helped prevent skin irritation, but it is also great for wrinkles and firming skin. I have used dozens of these over the years.

FRE Under Eye Cream

Another monthly product is the under eye cream (discount code alexisroch)by FRE. It heals dark circles, firms skin, brightens, and tightens. It is one of the most purchased products we have ever shared on Chemistry Cachet. It is always on this list because it is the best.

Dermalogica Microscrub

This scrub has been a repurchase of mine for 6 years now. I bought my first jar in 2018, and I always keep it on hand. This is a physical exfoliant which is unique because it uses rice flour to scrub away dead skin cells. Unlike chemical exfoliants, which use acids to dissolve dead skin, physical exfoliants provide a more immediate and visible result. If you want to remove dead skin quickly, a physical exfoliant is key. Note, this scrub also contains a small amount of salicylic acid, so you actually get the benefit of both physical and chemical. It is very gentle though since the main component is the physical exfoliant.  This one is the best I have used, and I buy the small bottle on Amazon because it lasts a long time.

Carboxy Therapy Mask

I shared a blog post on the unique CO2 lift mask that uses carboxy gel to powerful hydrate, plump, and firm your skin like you get after a facial. The price on it is very expensive, so I have been trying out some knock off brands to see how they compare. This one uses a paper mask (see picture above, it scared my family LOL) on top of the gel, it stinks a little as it activates, and the formula work sin 10 minutes. It has five treatments in this box, so it is pretty affordable. It does work pretty good, and my skin is bright and firm after using it. It doesn’t work near as well as the CO2 lift mask, but for the price, I will definitely purchase again for a quick firming lift.

Promise Mango Niacinamide Serum

This is something (discount code alexisroch) I repurchased again because I loved the creamy smooth texture of it. It goes on great in the morning under make up too. The key ingredients in this are niacinamide, mango extract, aloe vera, and jojoba oil so you get a serum that hydrates, softens, and minimizes pores.

Depology Firming Face Cream and Night Cream

These Depology products use the Matrixyl 3000 peptide. This is the second set of them I have purchased, and  I think these creams work well for wrinkles and firming. They make a good addition to other face creams since they have a thinner consistency. You can read the original blog post I did on these products here.

NassifMD Resurfacing Pads

I love resurfacing pads for smoothing skin and removing dead skin. I use these popular ones I have talked about for 5 years now, but I decided to try the ones from this brand to see how they worked. They are not as strong as other brands I have used, but I love the softness of the pad. The formula is gentle enough to use everyday since it uses AHA’s from fruit acids. I liked them and would purchase again.

NassifMD Wrinkle Cream

I also tried this brands wrinkle cream. I used the entire tube, but I am not sure it made much difference. I don’t think I will repurchase this one. While it does contain a 10% vitamin C and peptide formula, it didn’t seem to work as well as just using a vitamin C serum. It was also very pricey, so not worth a repurchase.

Loreal Collagen Face Cream

Lastly, this drugstore face cream is amazing. My mom and I have both used this off and on for 10+ years or longer. We used to buy an Olay cream, but they stopped making it. My mom discovered this one, and it has been a favorite since then. It is great for basic moisturizing and everyday use. The formula isn’t greasy, and it works so good under makeup.  You can’t beat the price either!

I hope you enjoyed this article today filled with skin care tested by a chemist and completely finished so I can give you a full and proper review. Let me know if there is any brand or item you would like me to test!
