This is the first post we have done like this, but I think you will enjoy our skincare empties aka skincare product I’ve completely finished!
You may have noticed online many bloggers share skincare products, and they discuss how they love them…but can you really know your true opinion of something if you haven’t completely finished the container??
Not really!
In fact, I have noticed that products sometimes take an entire container to really see the benefits. One of the reasons we don’t share skincare posts all the time is I take many months to try something and will usually finish the bottle before talking about it.
The true test for me on recommending skincare products to our readers is if I plan to repurchase the product.
So, today I want to share with you dozens of products I have emptied over the last few months and my honest opinion on them! Many of these are my tried and true products I have used for years too. Head to instagram for a video review too.
Review Of Skincare Products I’ve Completely Finished (Skincare Empties)
Finishing skincare products is very satisfying to me! In fact, I can’t handle half finished bottles of products sitting around. I also cannot throw them away! I must finish them…just one of my weird ticks I guess lol.
The good news for readers is I love trying skincare products and sharing my honest review of them, so you can know what is worth trying and what is NOT!
None of this is sponsored, but all of my personal purchases and testing.
These are the skincare products I’ve completely finished the past few months.
1. Botanic Tree Glycolic Acid Scrub
First on the list is this Botanic Tree Glycolic Acid Scrub. This is the 3rd bottle I have finished of this product. I talked about it many many years ago in this post about Glycolic Acid. It continues to be a repeat purchase for me because it is gentle on my skin, but is a great face scrub to keep in the shower. I use it a few times a week when I have it in rotation. It brightens your skin, but isn’t harsh. I highly recommend trying it out
2. L’Oreal Paris Skincare Collagen Face Moisturizer
This L’Oreal Collagen Face Moisturizer is probably the most repurchased skincare product I use. This is possibly the 20th bottle I have finished. My mom and I started using this 10 years ago (maybe more), and it is the best stuff. It is the only cream my mom uses on her face! It is affordable and soft on your skin. I always have this on hand!
3. La Roche-Posay Hyaluronic Acid Serum for Face
This is the first bottle of La Roche-Posay Hyaluronic Acid Serum I have finished. I am always trying out hyaluronic acid for y’all, and this is a bottle I will repurchase again! It works well, smells good, but also affordable. It didn’t burn my skin like other products of hyaluronic acid I have tried. You can read more about why I like hyaluronic acid for skin here.
4. Tula Purifying Face Cleanser
I just finished this bottle of Tula Face Cleanser. I actually really liked this! I am picky about face wash because most of it doesn’t clean well and breaks out my skin. This was so soft and gentle, but also did a really good job removing all my makeup even mascara. In fact, this is now one of my favorite face cleansers for when I have a full face of makeup to remove. I will be purchasing this! I discovered this product in my Fab Fit Fun Box, and I am so glad I got too. You can use code ROCH to try out Fab Fit Fun if you would like.
5. TULA Skin Care Beauty Sleep Overnight Repair Treatment
This is another Tula product I tried out, and finished the bottle up a few months ago. I loved using this at night after my regular skincare routine! I noticed softer and brighter skin in the morning. It is a little pricier than many products I use, so I wasn’t sure if I would want to repurchase it, but I think it is worth the money. It lasted me forever too! I will definitely buy this again for a good overnight face cream option.
6. TULA Skin Care Glow & Get It Cooling & Brightening Eye Balm
I got this in the winter Fab Fit Fun Box (code ROCH for a discount), and finally finished it. I liked it okay, but I WON’T Repurchase it. It did brighten under my eyes, but didn’t deter dark circle appearance. In fact, it made my dark circles more noticeable. It just didn’t do well with my skin.
7. ELEMIS Peptide4 Eye Recovery Cream
I finished this bottle up a few weeks ago, and I am glad it is done. I sadly didn’t see any difference after using this entire bottle! For the price, I will NOT be repurchasing this.
8. ELEMIS Peptide4 Plumping Pillow Facial
This facial pillow I also finished up a few months ago, and I loved it! It smelled wonderful, and I love how SMOOTH by face was every morning after using this. I was actually sad when this was finished! I will be buying this again.
9. Elemis Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm
I have heard every blogger and person share this stuff and talk about how awesome it is. Well, after finishing this bottle up, I can say I DID NOT LIKE it! It was not only really greasy, but it burned my eyes removing eye makeup. The smell was very pungent, and it didn’t make my skin feel smoother after using it. I thought I would love it at first, but I couldn’t wait for this bottle to be done. It was not worth the high cost. I much prefer Pond’s cold cream for makeup removal. I don’t know if people are raving about this because it is sponsored or whatever, but I honestly don’t like it.
10. Algenist Complete Eye Renewal Balm
This is another product I got in my Fab Fit box from winter, and I actually really loved it! The formula is very soft in texture, almost like a mousse. After using this a few weeks, I could tell one of the main ingredients is Vitamin C because it brightened my under eye area! It also contains caffeine which plumps the under eye area too. I will repurchase this. It is pricey, but I used it for 3 months straight before it ran out, so it lasts awhile.
11. La Roche-Posay Lipikar Balm AP+ Intense Repair Body Cream
This is my second bottle of this body cream, and it is fantastic! I struggle with dry skin, eczema, and hand eczema. This stuff is amazing for that! I use it on Amelia too since it is made for kids or adults. It is so creamy, soft, and soothing. This is a product I will continue to keep on hand and use daily! If you have dry skin or eczema prone skin, I highly recommend it.
12. Good Science Beauty Firming Cream
This is my third bottle of Good Science Beauty Firming cream. It is one of my favorite face creams to keep in rotation. I can always tell a difference when I start using it because it tightens and brightens my face especially my forehead and around the eye area! I have been using this since 2018, and I love it. The jar also lasts 3 months or so if you use it daily.
Well, this completes all of my skincare products I’ve completely finished over the last few months!

Hi Alexis! Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us! I was wondering if you have any insight using all natural products? I am trying to get away from using household and personal products (anything that touches my body) that use chemicals and ingredients that are not natural.
Alexis says
Hi Patti! I use many non-toxic products, probably 60% of my skincare is non-toxic. The term all-natural is hard to define in skincare because store-bought products don’t have that type of classification in cosmetics. I do like non-toxic products though and we have many articles about that. I make my own caffeinated eye cream found here, have a list of dozens of non-toxic brands that work great, and also love things like rosehip seed oil. You can find more skincare articles in our skincare tab. Keep in mind, anything labeled “natural” won’t produce the same results for anti-aging like retinoids or anything potent like this 🙂

I do love these type of posts. It’s great to see what people like and don’t like, or what works for them or not. I’ve heard good things about Tula as a brand but never used them.

I have been pretty impressed with most TUla products, and I definitely think they are worth trying 🙂 I am glad you liked our post today!

Hi Alexis. Love your monthly newsletters. Always can’t wait for the next one.
My question is about the skincare products. You seem to have a wonderful arsenal of different moisturizers, cleansers, eye cream, lip balm, etc. but can you give us your favorite for each category? Also, why it is important to have a rotation of different cleansers, creams, etc.?
Alexis says
I have been working on a guide for my favorites of each type of skincare, it is hard to narrow it down since I test so many…but I have a few tried and trues I always love! I should have a guide like this prepared for later in the year. I personally like to rotate products because my skin will get used to something after awhile, but also because I like to use many different products. I have noticed products will work better if I only use a few at a time, rotating my skincare allows me to use all different ones. I typically use 3-4 products at a time, then rotate another 3-4 types. This has been successful for me over the years

I have been using Paula’s Choice brand of facial routine products.Have you ever reviewed them or used them.I originally read Paula’s book” Don’t go to the cosmetic counter without me”. This is an on line company and I’m wondering if it’s time to make a change. Any I put will be greatly appreciated.
Alexis says
I have used several Paula’s Choice products over the years. I have tried a few different moisturizers, eye cream, and some of their exfoliants. I wasn’t too impressed with them, so I haven’t used anymore of their products the past few years. My mom still uses the toner and likes it.
