Spontaneous day date chemistrycachet.comMy husband has always worked strange hours, with random days off most of our marriage. Even in the Marine Corps, he worked nights, weekends and holidays. Now that he works in Nuclear Security, his days off are always different and he works evenings. When he finally gets a day off, it is usually jammed packed with errands, projects and responsibilities. Needless to say, we don’t get much date time.

Tuesday he had the day off, so we decided to spend the day doing some fun things together! It ended up being the best spontaneous day date we’ve had in a long time!

We woke up early to take a long walk at the park while it was nice and cool outside. I walk every morning, so it was nice to have him with me this time. I loved seeing signs of early fall!

Signs of fall chemistrycachet.comAfter the park, we decided to head to Dallas to visit the Arboretum. It was our first time there, but I loved it! The pumpkin displays were amazing, but I was enchanted by the beautiful gardens. If you are a new reader, you should know I am a total fanatic over gardens, flowers and plants in general. This place was like heaven to me!

Cascading pumpkins on chemistrycachet.comDallas Arboretum Pumpkin Village on chemistrycachet.comThe rose gardens were incredible! They smell was so relaxing too.

Beautiful Rose GardensWe walked around for hours, enjoying the scenery. After we left, we stopped in Fort Worth on our way home for a late lunch.

Although many people may not view going grocery shipping as date material, we love it! Before we got home, we stopped for groceries and some treats for the night. I love when he gets to come to the store with me (mainly so I don’t have to carry all the groceries alone 😉 )

That evening we enjoyed some time on the porch swing with Ruger! That is the best place to talk and relax with a peaceful view.

Best Friends Furever )We finished up the day watching some Halloween Movies, eating caramel apples, kettle corn and pumpkin dip!

Do you ever go on a fun spontaneous day date with your spouse? I think it’s something we should do more often 🙂

Hi Alexis. Your day date with your hubby sounds wonderful. My hubby and I don’t get many ops to do this during the week, but we have planned outings on the weekends – errands, snacking, just being out and about. I chuckled about your comment about carrying groceries – my guy’s big arms are useful for this. And he’s great at finding bargains in the store – you know, sale + coupons… And he’s a great chauffeur! Hope you get more ops to day date with your guy! Enjoy…

I miss having weekends like that, but I am grateful we can still find time when he is off. Husbands are the best for the heavy stuff!! Have a great day!

Spontaneous dates can sometimes be the best!! We have some beautiful metroparks/state parks in our area and some of my favorite spontaneous dates have been walks through them. 🙂

sounds like a great day. We alternate working to avoid daycare, so there aren’t many of these days, but we try and take advantage of them when we can

This is so sweet and I love the picture of the two of you looking at one another. So very sweet. We haven’t been on a date spur of the moment in a long time. It always seems to take planning it to make it happen. That pumpkin village, oh my. Looks like a magical place. I enjoy places like that too. Happy to have you on Tuesday Talk each week. You have the best posts to share. I just may have to nudge the hubs to take me on a date!! 🙂

My husband has always worked an unusual schedule, too! It’s fun to squeeze in time together whenever you can. My husband used to come meet me at my college for dinner right before he headed off to night shift at least once a week–fun memories!

The arboretum in Dallas is so beautiful! I haven’t been there in years and I still remember how lovely it was! This was so fun, and I wish my husband and I could count grocery shopping as a fun experience. I like to take my time and he’d rather rush through it lol!

Day dates (heck, even lunch dates!) are the best! We’ve been so busy lately that we haven’t had a date in a while. Hubby’s birthday is this weekend and I’m hoping for an afternoon picnic – just the two of us!
