After sharing a few sneak peaks of our subway tile master shower remodel before and after on instagram stories, everyone said they wanted a full post on the details!
This post is FULL of pictures, so be sure to read it to the end.
I will also share with you some of the hardware details which I ended up buying on Amazon because I had trouble finding what I wanted.
Also, I took many of these photos at different times during the remodeling process, so lighting varies! Some I also snapped with my iphone, while others are with my camera 🙂 I just wanted to share each angle and photo with you!
Subway Tile Master Shower Remodel Before and After
I have never been a huge fan of our shower tile. It was really hard to keep clean, and it also wasn’t taken very good care of from previous owners. The grout was in need of repair, but it also wasn’t very functional.
Subway tile has always been a favorite of mine because it is so bright and makes a space seem bigger.
It is also easy to clean!
We went with subway tile that is dimensional and laid brick style to give a little more of a textured look. We also went with bright white grout!
Hardware Pieces
All of my home is oil rubbed bronze, so we went with that again. I really wanted a larger shower head, but not one that was too big. I had trouble finding it locally, so I ended up ordering with Amazon. I am very pleased with it! Perfect color to tie everything together. Here is the link. It does not come with the shower arm, so we bought it separate.
The shower handle is Delta brand which many of our faucets in the house are too. I didn’t like the shower head it came with, so I just went with the handle portion.
This is the grab bar we purchased. I love the Moen oil rubbed bronze. We have Moen in our kitchen, so I thought it would help everything flow. It has great details and really pulls the whole look together.
Flooring
Since we decided to keep the flooring in the bathroom the same, I wanted the shower floor to match the old floors and the new hardware. We have the same floors throughout our entire home, so I didn’t want to change them in the master bathroom.
We went with this type of floor. It has the stone tile color, but also the dark coloring to match all the hardware. It is beautiful!
The Shampoo Niche
We didn’t want to move any wall studs, so we went with this size niche. It looks so pretty with the grab bar below it!
This master shower remodel turned out great. I love all the detail! If you are in the DFW area, definitely check out Vaz Tile. They did a great job, and finished up so fast!! He also has a lot of photos on his

Lovely transformation. Subway tile is so sleek. We have grey subway tiles as our kitchen backsplash and I love the look.

I just saw Little Miss Personality below! What a beauty and such a fun age. Spend time, make memories, you’ll be happy you did. Plus they will be even lovelier in retrospect when you’re 70 plus.

Hi Alexis, I just came across your website and gorgeous bathroom remodel in search of grout cleaner. I have found lots of DIYs for cleaning mold and everything else out of grout except hard mineral deposits. All acid solutions are not recommended because they destroy the grout. And does nothing to remove or soften the mineral deposits. We remodelled our bathroom 8 months ago. I love my choice of black opal penny tile for the shower floor similar to yours. The grout is charcoal grey. Within a month I started noticing white mineral deposits forming and have tried what seems like everything to soften it, brush it, scrape it and nothing works. The tile store I bought it from brushed me off saying I should get a water softener. Is that the only solution? Help!

Hi Rita! First, I have a really perfect blog post for you being published in a few weeks with some grout cleaning hacks! I will try to remember to reply to this message again and send it over when it is live 🙂 Or you can check the blog in a few weeks for it. In the meantime, I have several things that work good for grout. The first DIY combines peroxide and baking soda to make a grout cleaning paste. I use this on light and dark grout with success! Another tips is to use this DIY mold remover which also works for grout and can also help the mineral deposits. Natural cleaners are pretty good for grout, but sometimes you need more and the grout cleaning hacks post I have been working on the last year will be available in a few weeks with some helpful hints!
