Earlier this summer, I shared with you our summer to do.

Toes in the sand and other fun summer to dos chemistrycachet.com

Here’s the original post. I thought it would be fun to look back and see what all we have done so far. I can’t believe it is almost August! Although I am no longer in school, I still fee like the heart of summer is the end of May, June, and July. Many of our plans we got to do during our staycation, which is probably one of our favorite vacations yet!

So, here is our summer to do list revisited:

1. Go to a drive in movie. – still haven’t done this! Too hot in Texas right now, but we have plans to go soon!

2. Fishing trip at our local lake.

3. Hang up all our outdoor lights to finish up our backyard transformation! (Follow Instagram for updates)

4. Buy a kiddie pool for Ruger.

Buying a kiddie pool is one of Ruger’s favorite things this summer…nothing better than flopping in cold water on a hot summer day 🙂

5. Go to downtown Fort Worth at night.

6. Make popsicles!

7. Have people over for a barbeque (and to enjoy all our backyard updates). – Too hot for this right now, but once our pergola is completed we will definitely have some people over 🙂

8. Take our 8 year wedding anniversary vacation somewhere totally new and special.

Well, we didn’t actually go anywhere, but we did do something special!! We had a wonderful, relaxing staycation. In case you missed it, here is the series on our ideas and all we got to do!

  • Elements of a Perfect Staycation
  • Staycation Part I – Where We Went
  • Staycation Part II – Fun Things We Did At Home

9. Spend time at our neighborhood park, which is walking distance! Ruger loved going as a puppy :)

10. Experiment with some seasonal cookie recipes to give to customers (I’ve got a root beer float cookie in mind :) )

11. Go to the Fort Worth Zoo.

12. Firefly watching from the patio and catching some in jars.

Our favorite summer tradition is by far spending summer evenings outside under the stars, catching fireflies! I am so glad we got to do this before the heat set in!

13. Take Ruger Swimming in the pool again.

We did this a few times, and he loved it! (only with mom holding him 😉 )

Summer moves so fast every year, I am grateful to get a chance to do all the things we love and enjoy each year. To be honest with you, fall is BY far our favorite time of the year, so I am already excited for our upcoming autumn to do list!

Hi Alexis… you guys did a lot on your to do list, and sounds like it was a lot of fun. Love pics of Ruger in the water, esp the puppy/kiddy pool. Did I miss your root beer float cookie recipe, or was that for your cookie customers only? I haven’t done anything major during this summer so far, although I did volunteer admin work with a K9 group – an all day medical training class for the handlers (police, military, search and rescue). I have a girls’ spa trip in St George Utah planned for late October. And I have passes for a local chocolate factory tour and also a glass blowing class. I would like to get back to my jewelry making hobby, too. Inspiration strikes at all hours…

I didn’t post my rootbeer float cookie recipe yet, but I think I will soon! It turned out really good! That is so great that you did some volunteer work! We are looking into to do something with pet therapy soon. And a spa trip sounds amazing, I am jealous of that!! 🙂 I can’t wait to hear how your chocolate factory tour turns out, that is something I would really love to do. Have a wonderful day!
