Celebrating Thanksgiving in Texas. Last minute decor! on chemistrycachet.com

I shared this on snapchat last week, but we had a change of plans for Thanksgiving a little last minute. My husband had to work and we all live in different towns, so it ended up being easiest to have it at our house.

We had already taken down most of the fall decorations and started on Christmas too, but it turned out to be a great Thanksgiving in Texas. I threw together a last minute table with some fall colors, pumpkins, and a simple setting. It was actually a lot less pressure to get everything right since it was so last minute. We had a great time, with delicious food.

Even though my husband had to be at work, he was able to sit down for lunch with us. I was grateful for that!

Ruger is obsessed with pumpkin! I’ve said this before, but it is so true! He is crazy about it lol. I made our favorite dairy-free pumpkin pie and a new recipe for cranberry pie bars. I will be sharing that recipe on Thursday! It will be great for Christmas! This dairy-free pumpkin pie has gotten really popular with readers. I had a few write me and say it turned out so good!

You can see how the cranberry pie bars look on Instagram! I think they turned out really pretty and so easy to make.

My Grammy makes the BEST carrot cake. She always brings it for the holiday’s and it is perfect. She is almost 87, so shes been baking this thing for more than 60 years 🙂

Another tradition is making these frosted cranberries. They are so pretty and perfect for the holidays! I also make them for Christmas and New Year’s Eve. We like them in addition to cranberry sauce, but they also make a great garnish.

If you end up trying out the recipe, you can also make them sugar free if you need too 🙂

My mom always makes the meat and it was delicious as always!

As I mentioned, most of my fall stuff is already packed up, so I just pulled out some fall colors I had around the house. Those little bowels that the bulldog shakers and pumpkins are on were my Grammy’s in the 60s. She gave them to me a few months ago, and I thought they had the best fall colors.

Now it’s time to finish decorating for Christmas! This is the first new ornament of the year and I LOVE IT! My mom knows me too well. Lucille Ball is my favorite 🙂

I will share some pretty Christmas pictures on Friday!

I hope you had a wonderful weekend!

Thanks for having us alexis! It was my first thanksgiving NOT at my home. I liked it, lol. We can make it a tradition! Everything was delicious and the ambiance was very relaxing. Glad my son in law was able to eat with us before he had to go on duty. And Ruger was a good boy too! Love mom

That’s great your change of plans worked out well and your husband could have lunch with you all! We didn’t eat at my house this year, but I’m sure if we did, my dog would have been begging away.

Thanks Lauren! Our dog was pretty happy about all the delicious food around, but he really loved everyone being over. He was certain everyone was over to see him 🙂

What a lovely Thanksgiving recap! To me, simplicity and classic (food and decor) is the best. Ours was pretty laid back, once we got my mom to sit down. Good food/love around the table with loved ones – so much to be thankful for. And I love your Lucy ornament! Do you have a bulldog ornament?

      I agree! Simplicity is always best. I don’t have a bulldog ornament! I can’t believe that, but I don’t 🙂

Thanks girl! It is tough having to work the holidays…he has had to work every single one since he was in the Marines! Law enforcement never gets a night off lol Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving!
