Pumpkin has a variety of components making it beneficial for skin! Many of the reasons why pumpkin is good to eat also make it good for topical use. The orange color of pumpkins is due to it’s high amount of carotenoids, specifically alpha-carotene and beta-carotene. Carotenoids are so nourishing!

I love pumpkin for skin because it really brightens skin texture! The vitamins it contains do a great job of brightening dark spots, pigmentation, and dullness. Pumpkin enzymes also contribute to itās amazing brightening ability by helping with cell turnover. It also removes dead skin cells which immediately brightens dull skin.
Acne
Zinc is fantastic for acne, and pumpkin is such a good source of zinc. Pumpkin soothes acne and prevents it too.
Pore Shrinking
Like above, zinc is really good for acne, but also pores. Since pumpkin also contains B vitamins like niacin, it does wonders for your pores. Especially shrinking them!
Dry Skin
Pumpkin is good for dry skin! All the vitamins and minerals help nourish really dry skin without causing irritation.
Irritated Skin
Pumpkin is a great anti-inflammatory, so it can treat irritation on the skin. Itās also good for swelling and redness!
How to Use Pumpkin On Skin
There are so many ways to use pumpkin! You can buy some really amazing skincare products that utilize pumpkin. Some of my favorites are:
You can make your own pumpkin mask!
It is easy to make your own mask with pumpkin. Here is my favorite one:
Ingredients:
- 1/4 cup pumpkin (fresh or canned)
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp honey
Directions: Mix it up, then apply to your face with a face brush. Leave on for 10-15 minutes, then rinse with warm water!
This tightens and brightens your skin!
Make a pumpkin scrub
You can also use pumpkin to make a really wonderful DIY pumpkin scrub. I love using this for my face and neck, but it is also wonderful for arms and legs too! This has numerous benefits from the pumpkin, but the sugar helps with exfoliation. I love adding coffee for the caffeine boost.
- 1/4 cup canned pumpkin
- 2-3 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tbsp ground coffee
Directions: Mix ingredients well. You want texture to be like a scrub, so use up to 3 tbsp of sugar. Rub in a circular motion around the face and neck. Feel free to use this anywhere on your body too! It smells so wonderful š
