best thing for upper back pain

This was a requested post from my instagram followers! Today I want to share with you the BEST thing for upper back pain!

I have been using this for awhile now, and it has worked wonders for me!

Upper back pain is usually caused from poor posture, large breasts, or lack of muscle tone. I have struggled with upper back pain for awhile since I work at the computer most of the day and tend to slouch.

When Amelia was born, the surgery made it difficult for my to stand up straight since my stomach was pulled so tight with the C-section. I started slouching even more.

Plus, breastfeeding has made my already larger breasts HUGE! It adds a ton of weight pulling down on my back area.

I find myself always pulling my shoulders back and finding relief, but it gets difficult to constantly do that. So, I decided to try out a posture brace.

Posture Brace: The Best Thing For Upper Back Pain

I wear this for a few hours each day, especially if I am working on the computer or walking around the house cleaning. It is AMAZING! You can pull it back really tight since the straps are adjustable.

I bought this one (the one in the pictures above is sold out, so I updated it with the most similar type) from Amazon because it had good reviews and very affordable. I love it!

How it Works

Many of you were curious how it works. By pulling back your shoulders, it forces you to stand up straight. This helps strengthen your core overtime and also trains your shoulders to pull back naturally.

I have been wearing this for awhile, but I find myself pulling my shoulders back naturally even when I am not wearing it because my body has gotten used to it.

Benefits of Good Posture

There are so many benefits of good posture, more than just helping with upper back pain! I never realized how much of a difference it made until I was in my 20s.

Helps Keep Everything Aligned

Since I have RA, I have found out first hand how bad it can be when you aren’t standing straight. It can make your joints align poorly, causing you to walk funny. This can contribute to knee pain, hip pain, and back pain. Any weight bearing joint can be impacted by poor posture.

Decreases wear and tear on ligaments/muscles

Having good posture can also prevent unnecessary wear and tear on ligaments or muscles.

Keeps the spine straight

Back pain goes deeper than just muscles. Having poor posture can make your spine go into bad positions permanently. This can really hinder your back as you get older and even lead to back surgeries.

Better breathing

Breathing can be hindered by poor posture too. Slouching can smash the lung area making it harder to breathe even if you don’t realize it! This study proves how poor posture can impact breathing negatively.

Better digestion and circulation

Standing up straighter makes everything flow better too! Circulation and digestion are both improved by good posture.

I always wear this when I am sitting at the computer or walking around the house. It has really helped!

Thanks for this info! I didn’t know you were suffering the back pain. Your body has been going through a lot of changes with pregnancy and postpartum. I find myself slumping over while reading on my iphone/ipad… so not good for the body! Good posture is very important for everything you mentioned, and it makes you look younger too! Thanks for the reminder!

My upper and lower back are always in pain from working at a computer and having breasts in the larger range for my frame. The monthly deep tissue massages help but this sounds like a great way to help with the pain especially as a new mom who’s breastfeeding etc. Emily @ Martinis & Bikinis
