So, let me tell you about the English Bulldog who loved pumpkin…I had a feeling Ruger would love pumpkin because every time I pull out a can of pumpkin to bake with, he runs as fast as he can to sit under my feet. Pumpkin is so good for dogs, so I always let him have a little nibble. Now, this kids pretty much loves ALL vegetables and fruits. His absolute favorites are watermelon, zucchini, broccoli and now pumpkin.
I thought it would be really cute to buy him a little baby pumpkin last week and I was right, he went crazy over it! The minute I walked in with it, he just knew it was for him 😉
He took it outside and played with it forever. I wanted to play fetch with it, but we convinced him that wouldn’t be successful lol. I let him eat (or carve) a little of it too.
Tada! Ruger’s first pumpkin 🙂 This weekend we will be carving OUR pumpkins and I can’t wait to show you the 80 lb one! Since Ruger loves pumpkin, I was so excited to try these pumpkin treats that chewy.com sent us this month! I will be buying these again. They look like little teddy grahams and they only have a few ingredients,
Now, if you love pumpkin make sure to sign up for my next newsletter! I’ve got a fun exclusive recipe for you!

omg this is the cutest thing ever! I’m pretty sure my dog would just be afraid of a pumpkin. She’s a scardy dog. One of our neighbors on our floor has a jack-o-lantern out and she cowers down and bolts past it any time we come up the stairs. Did I mention she’s a 75 lb dog? Dork!

Omg how funny! Ruger is 80lbs and is afraid of the STRANGEST things like boxes, when I wear new shoes, a new bone…pretty much anything unknown lol

What a cutie! I love it. I can relate our little wire fox terrier loves her veggies too! Green peppers are fee favorite. I will have to try her with some pumpkin. Thanks for sharing!
Alexis says
Thanks Lynn! If she loves veggies, she will definitely love pumpkin!

Thanks Angelica! He has such a sweet, unique personality! I think he thinks that he’s a human lol

Adorable! Aren’t our bullies the best? Roxy has been enjoying her pumpkin treats from Blue Buffalo, and I’ve been calling her basic lol. Love that our doggies are festive <3

Oh Alexis…. Ruger is such a darling, esp in that down dog pose with his pumpkin. And look how he chewed that pumpkin! My girl loves pumpkin, and gets excited when I get a can out (could be that it’s the same color label as her dog food… LOL). My baby also loves veggies and fruits. She knows the word “fruit” too. Oops, I trained her too well? Can’t wait to see your carved pumpkins! I’ll have to look for those pumpkin Teddy Grahams treats for her.
P.S. Great color nail polish in the picture! Very fallish!
Alexis says
That’s to cute Laurie! Are dogs are sch sweethearts! I can’t wait to carve the pumpkins, it is gonna be so fun. Thank you, I thought that nail polish was perfect for October 🙂
Ashley @ Wandering Weekenders says
It’s seriously so adorable that you bought Ruger his own pumpkin to play with! My dog tends to have some issues with his anal glands (TMI I know and I’m sorry!) and the vet said that pumpkin was one of the best things we could give him because it’s high in fiber! I can’t wait to see the huge monstrosity of a pumpkin y’all got!
Alexis says
That is so good to know Ashley, pumpkin really is full of fiber! I bet your dog will love his own pumpkin 🙂

Ruger did a great job carving, I mean, chomping into his pumpkin. He made the perfect mouth. Too cute! Never knew that pumpkin was good for dogs.
Alexis says
He did make the perfect mouth lol. It is really good for them, and most dogs really love it 🙂
Holly @ While I'm Waiting... says
