Today, I wanted to share with you this TruKid mineral based sunscreen for kids.
Last month, I shared my favorite mineral sunscreen for my skin. I had many readers write in saying they LOVE it , but I had several requests for mineral sunscreen for kids.
We had tried several over the last few years. Most of the readers who wrote in were specifically asking for a mineral based sunscreen for kids that doesn’t leave a white cast.
This is hard to find in the mineral types, but we have finally found one that works better for us!
TruKid Mineral Based Sunscreen for Kids
Why Mineral Sunscreen?
I started using mineral sunscreen several years ago because it works better for my skin. Mineral sunscreen sits on the skins surface and physically shields skin from UV rays. Your skin does not absorb it. Chemical sunscreen works by getting absorbed into your skin, then protecting skin from the inside out.
For my kids, I have been using mineral sunscreen too. Over the last few years, we have been trying out different ones.
I have been using this one for her, and we really like it! It has a very light citrus scent, and my daughter loves it.
Adults Can Use It Too
This isn’t just for kids, it works great for adults too! If you buy this for your kids, the entire family cane use it. After I lather up my kiddos, I will put this on my chest and shoulders.
Why I love this mineral based sunscreen for kids:
I went with this sunscreen for my kids for several reasons, but this is what caught my eye.
- It has a pH of 7, so it is doesn’t sting.
- Paraben-Free
- Oxybenzone-Free
- BPA-Free
- Made in the USA
It is also good for sensitive skin!
Amelia inherited my Native American genes, so we both get very tan in the summers. This sunscreen rubs in well and doesn’t leave as much of a white cast as some other mineral sunscreens do. In the second photo above, you can see her shoulder after using this sunscreen. It didn’t have any white cast.
For her face, it can leave a little bit of a white cast, but we just rub it in well.
My son is light complected, so no white cast for him at all!
How To Use It:
This will be used like other sunscreens. Apply 15 minutes before sun exposure, then reapply every 40-60 minutes.

Sunscreen is so important although I grew up in a time when it wasn’t and I spent all day every day out in the hot Aussie sun

I agree! I never thought much about sunscreen until I was well into my later 20s. I make sure my kids use it all the time now
