After using this ultra-rich repair cream (code alexisroch at checkout) that repairs the skin’s barrier for the last three weeks, I had to share a post on this. (Update in 2024, I have used this over a year now)

This thick luxurious buttery face cream is formulated to deeply hydrate especially if you suffer from red, irritated skin. It hydrates so deeply, you will get the benefit of wrinkle softening, anti-aging, and firming looking skin.

These ingredients are simple, but potent leaving you with dewey, soft hydrated skin after each use.

Here is how it works!

Ultra-Rich Repair Cream That Repairs The Skin’s Barrier

What is the Skin Barrier?

Your skin is more than just a surface; it’s a complex system that acts as a shield, protecting your body from external threats. The skin barrier, also known as the stratum corneum, is the outermost layer of your skin and plays a critical role in maintaining its overall health and appearance.

This barrier consists of layers of dead skin cells, lipids, and natural moisturizing factors. Together, they form a protective barrier that keeps moisture locked in and harmful substances out. It basically guards your skin against the harsh elements of everyday life.

When your skin barrier is compromised, it becomes more susceptible to damage, leading to a host of issues such as sensitivity, dryness, and inflammation. That’s where ingredients like ceramide and prebiotics come in, working in harmony to strengthen and repair this vital defense system.

Ceramides

This thick, ultra-rich cream (code alexisroch at checkout) contains ceramides. By replenishing ceramide levels in your skin, you can effectively rebuild and reinforce your skin barrier. Ceramides are naturally occurring lipids that make up about 50% of the stratum corneum. They act as “glue” between skin cells, helping to maintain their structure and integrity. By incorporating ceramides into your skincare routine, you can restore your skin’s natural protective barrier and significantly reduce moisture loss. This, in turn, results in healthier, suppler, and more resilient skin.

Prebiotics

Another addition to this face cream making it so successful at treating your skin is prebiotics. This is another crucial ingredient for a strong skin barrier. Prebiotics act as nourishment for the beneficial bacteria that reside on your skin’s surface, known as the skin microbiome. These beneficial bacteria play a vital role in maintaining the balance and overall health of your skin.

How to use this ultra-rich repair cream:

This Moisturize Me Repair Cream works great with any of your current skincare products! There aren’t any ingredients that will react with other serums like retinol or acids, so you will enjoy this with your current routine.

Here is how I am incorporating it right now:

Step 1: Wash my face with a gentle cleanser.

Step 2: Apply water based serums. I am using Revive Me and Matrixyl 3000 right now. I also used another water based moisturizer for extra firming, Good Science Beauty’s Skin Firming Cream (use code chemistrycachet30 at checkout). Their moisturizers are fast absorbing like serums, so I have found it layers really well. This cream gives added firmness to my skin.

Step 3: Let the serums dry, then top with this cream (code alexisroch).

Step 4: Every other night, I also use this overnight plumping mask (code alexisroch).

I like to use about 4-5 products each night maximum . I will rotate products a few times per year. This time of year, I am using things to firm and hydrate my skin.

Tips for Maintaining a Strong Skin Barrier

In addition to using a face cream that contains prebiotics and ceramides, there are several other important steps you can take to maintain a strong and healthy skin barrier. These tips will help ensure that your skin remains resilient and protected against external aggressors:

  1. Gentle Cleansing: It’s crucial to cleanse your skin with a gentle cleanser that doesn’t strip away its natural oils. Harsh cleansers can disrupt the delicate balance of your skin’s microbiome, compromising your skin barrier. Look for a cleanser that is pH-balanced and free of harsh ingredients like sulfates and fragrances.
  2. Moisturize Daily: Keeping your skin moisturized is essential for maintaining a strong barrier. Choose a moisturizer that is suitable for your skin type and contains ingredients like ceramides, hyaluronic acid, and glycerin. These ingredients help to replenish and retain moisture, ensuring your skin stays hydrated and protected.
  3. Protect from UV Damage: Sun exposure can weaken your skin barrier and lead to premature aging. Make sure to apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with at least SPF 30 every day, even on cloudy days. Additionally, wearing protective clothing and seeking shade during peak sun hours can help minimize UV damage.
  4. Avoid Over-Exfoliating: While exfoliation can be beneficial for removing dead skin cells and revealing a brighter complexion, overdoing it can compromise your skin barrier. Opt for gentle exfoliators and limit exfoliating to once or twice a week to avoid irritation and damage.
  5. Don’t Use Too Many Products: Over using products can also lead to irritation and damaging the skin’s barrier. Using 4-5 products total that all have a separate purpose is just enough. I use a face wash, a few different serums, a face cream and every few days an overnight facial. Every few months I rotate the type of serum I am using.

By following these tips, you can support your skin barrier’s strength and resilience, promoting a healthier complexion. In the next section, we will discuss how a strong skin barrier can benefit your skin and overall well-being.,

In summary, understanding the importance of a strong skin barrier is key to achieving healthy, radiant skin. Through the power of ceramide and prebiotics, this ultra-rich repair cream that repairs skin’s barrier offers an effective solution for strengthening this vital protective layer. By incorporating this product into your skincare routine, you can shield your skin from environmental stressors and unlock the amazing benefits of a fortified barrier.

I use this one morning and night. It also removes my makeup, so I don’t have to use a makeup remover. Since it is a Fre product, my code also works for it (alexisroch). I still use POND’S occasionally for makeup removal 🙂

Skin care is so important, I moisturise my face, chest and arms each morning, never given much thought about barrier creams and such
