How to Pamper Your Pet with Grain Free Food

The Bulldog in our family (aka our baby) loves to run and play fetch as often as possible. It is such a joy to see him take off as fast as he can to snatch up the ball and bring it back to us. I never knew a bulldog had moves like that! 🙂 Ruger the Bulldog is definitely our child, so when we’ve been really busy during the week, we love to spend a day with him doing things he loves. Some of our favorite ways to pamper our guy are:

1. Mornings at the dog park.

Now that is is incredibly hot here in Texas, we take him in the early morning to the dog park just as the sun is coming up. We are usually the only ones there, so he gets the entire area to himself.

2. Family picnics.

Ruger loves joining us for lunch, so we love going on outdoor picnics so he can tag along. He always has a blast!

3. Swimming.

Cold water on a summer day is his all time favorite summer activity and such a special treat for him! We have a little baby pool that we take out and fill up for him.

4. Nutritious Food.

Ruger is a really picky eater, so I always try to get the most nutritious, filling dog food I can find to keep him healthy.

His health is really important to me, so I use grain free products for his food. Bulldogs tend to get allergies from wheat filled products, so switching to a grain free variety was something we had to for is health.  I recently tried Purina® Beyond® grain free dog food at my local H-E-B.

HEB pet selectionPurina Beyond Grain Free at HEBAs a chemist, I am always checking the labels for our food and even dog food for Ruger. It is amazing to see so many chemicals or processed ingredients come in packaged foods, even in packaged dog food. I always look for the number one ingredient to be some kind of meat or grain free product. I was impressed that Purina® Beyond® Ranch Raised Lamb and Whole Barley’s number one ingredient was lamb!

Purina Beyond Grain FreeSometimes dog food just has the flavor of lamb or traces of it, so I always check the first ingredient to make sure. Ruger always has skin reactions to dog food when the primary ingredients are wheat and corn. His little face turns red and he gets itchy skin!

Purina BeyondThe perfect day for Ruger always ends with a healthy supper, and he is always so excited for it!

So excited for his new grain free foodPurina® Beyond® Natural Dog Food is the perfect way to pamper your pet inside and out 🙂

Be sure to check out this coupon link for discounts on your next Purina® Beyond® purchase! I’d love to hear what you think of these grain free products for your fur baby too!

Have a great day!

We live on the beach so we don’t quite do family picnics, but we do go on a lot of walks. Only problem, my dog goes a little bananas for all of the attention from strangers! Thanks for the great tips! #client

He is so adorable. I love taking my two dogs on walks. Great exercise for them and me! I’ve yet to take them swimming…not sure if they’d like it or not!

Ruger loves to swim especially in his baby pool. If we take him to the big pool, he has to have me holding on to him lol!

Love the pic of Ruger running w/his ball – look at those ears! Such a cutie… there’s a happy healthy boy. Love seeing him in his puppy pool. I never heard of this “branch” of Purina pet food – they make many lines/brand of dog food. Sounds like it’s the right dietary fit to keep Mr. Ruger going strong. Ann eats Purina Pro Plan chicken and rice.

He is definitely a happy boy! He loves to play fetch so much 🙂 Ruger does so good on grain free food. I haven’t heard of their Pro Plan, but they make really good products. I will have to check that one out too!

You dog’s name jumped out at me:)! My sister has a black Lab named Ruger (http://www.happyhillpups.com/labrador-parent-dogs/) she is such a great dog (most of the time:).

Also, have you heard of Life’s Abundance Dog Food? It is a natural dog food that contain the finest ingredients, like …
    • A proprietary blend of vitamins & minerals
    • High-quality protein from chicken meal for strong muscles
    • An antioxidant system including vitamins C & E
    • Prebiotic fiber & guaranteed probiotics
    • A selection of nutritious vegetables
    • Omega-3 fatty acids for healthy skin & a shiny coat
    • Calcium & phosphorus for healthy teeth and strong bones
    • Dietary fiber to help maintain a healthy digestive tract

    • No artificial flavors or colors
    • No corn, wheat or corn/wheat glutens
Fresher food is more nutrient-rich. While leading brands stockpile tons of food for months on end, their food is made weekly in small-batches so it’s only 4-to-6 weeks when it’s delivered.

We have started using this with all of are dogs and are extremely pleased with the results!

Hi Ruth! That is so neat they have a dog with the same name 🙂 We have run in to a few people that have that name as well! I think it makes the perfect dog name. I haven’t heard of that food before, but I will definitely check it out. I definitely love giving Ruger the freshest food, he responds so well to grain free products! Thanks so much for the information, I look forward to learning more. Have a great day!

Ruger is such a sweetie pie! My husband and I were looking into getting an English Bulldog puppy but couldn’t seem to get ahold of any breeders in our area. Instead we adopted my parents’ middle-aged corgi, Ruby, and I’m currently doing some dietary research on higher-protein foods to try and control her bad breath and drooling. I’m not sure if anything diet-related can help that, though; and she did have her teeth cleaned just yesterday. Cross fingers!

We looked for an English Bulldog for years! We were so happy to finally find one in our area and he is such a sweetheart 🙂 I am not sure about the bad breath and drooling. Ruger still does both often! I do use some organic dental sticks everyday that he loves and they really help with breath! I hope Ruby does well with her diet changes! 🙂
