Many of my readers from other parts of the country ask me what autumn is like in Texas?

I posted a picture of the beautiful leaves a few weeks ago on my Instagram ,and many said they had no idea we had color changes in Texas!

So, I thought I would share with you today some pretty photos we took recently and tell you what autumn is really like in Texas! Because autumn is definitely my favorite season!

What Autumn Is Like In Texas

It can be very warm, very cold, or mild

The truth is, our weather isn’t always the same this time of year. I’ve seen it snow in October, be 90 degrees in November, rain, drought, really anything! In fact, as a kid, Halloween was always a guessing game on what the weather would be. There were years it was so hot, we ended up taking off our costumes before trick or treating was done because of the heat. I also remember years it was so cold, we had to change outfits because of the weather. One year it even sleeted!

Since we bought our house five years ago, I’ve handed out candy to trick or treaters in shorts and flip flops, but also heavy coats and beanies LOL

Thanksgiving can also be warm or cold. One year when I was about five or six, Thanksgiving started out very mild. My Grammy came to our house about an hour away. Before we even had our lunch, a large cold front moved in and ice started coming down. She had to leave quickly, and barely made it home before the roads became dangerous. We still talk about that thanksgiving to this day!

There have been years the leaves don’t change much because of the heat, then a sudden freeze. Some years, we have many cool nights and wet days, so the fall leaves are beautiful.

This was a year like that! The leaves turned out so pretty, but they are still turning. Usually by the end of November, the leaves are at their peak! I can’t wait to see how they turn out by Thanksgiving! Be sure to follow me on instagram where I plan on sharing more pictures 🙂

We took all these pictures a few weeks ago where my parents live about an hour south of Fort Worth. Many of these trees they planted years ago. Some are native, others are just ones they chose to plant.

What is autumn where you live?

Hi Alexis… autumn in SF Bay Area – morning in 40s/50s, highs in mid 60s/low 70s, and cool again in evening. Currently we are plagued by very unhealthy air quality because of massive wildfires in Northern and Southern parts of the state. My persimmon tree starts ripening fruit when the cold snap hits -which will be next week. Finally! I’d go for long walk to look at colors, but too smoky now!

It has been very cold here this past week, but we are finally back in the 60s! I really missed the sun 🙂 I am so sad about all the fires going on right now

I love the in between seasons as in spring and autumn as it isn’t too hot or too cold most days

Autumn is just like Summer here in South Florida. Any trees that are not Palm Trees, don’t change color. They will drop their leaves at different time of the year though. Now that we are into November, we have had a few days with less humidity and cooler air but it’s back in the 80’s again today. When we first moved to Florida, I really missed all of the Autumn colors but have gotten used to it now. There is nothing more beautiful than golden & red trees!

I always missed the seasons when we lived in California. I have family that lives in West Palm Beach, and they say they miss the seasons too! I agree, there is nothing more beautiful than a beautiful fall tree!
