Today I want to share with you what full body red light therapy has done for me after five full months of use.
As you know, I have used red light therapy on and off for several years for joint inflammation with my home lamp.
I had success using the lamp at home, but I wanted to test out a full body machine for inflammation and skin concerns too.
Tahiti Tan in Stephenville has a red light therapy machine, so this is where I have been going since April.
What Full Body Red Light Therapy Has Done For Me
What Is Red Light Therapy?
Red light therapy is a type of treatment from a lamp that can help skin, muscles, and tissues heal. By exposing your body to low levels of red light, your cells soak up the red light and make energy. In turn, this can help cells repair which can help with healing in the skin and muscles.
Since red light therapy is a low light, it isn’t hot and it doesn’t expose your skin to UV rays like a tanning bed.
Red light therapy was accidentally discovered in 1967. The discoverer noticed that the red light helped hair growth and wound healing in rats.
Since the 1990s, it has been used more and more for skin healing and different medicinal alternatives.
The Benefits of Red Light Therapy
There are dozens of potential benefits of red light therapy. It continues to be studied and tested for more scientific proof of how it works, but honestly, I am personally impressed with how it has helped me!
Here are some potential benefits:
Increased Collagen Levels
Red Light has been shown to possibly help with stimulating collagen growth in skin tissues. By increasing collagen production, you can see improvements in scarring, wrinkles, stretch marks, acne damage, and other types of skin injuries.
Reduced Inflammation
Another benefit to Red Light is the reduction in inflammation in skin cells. This can mean helping with skin inflammation from acne, eczema, or dermatitis along with post-surgical inflammation or other types of inflammation including joint. Reduction of inflammation can lead to pain relief as well.
Hair Growth
There are many studies showing that red light use can help with hair growth including those who suffer from issues like alopecia.
Other Benefits:
The list of benefits continues to grow as scientist and doctors do more testing. Some of the other benefits including things like helping with dementia, dental pain, arthritis, and tendinitis.
How Red Light Therapy Has Personally Helped Me:
After personally using Red Light Therapy since the beginning of April a few days per week, I can say it has been a great tool for me.
One of the most notable and helpful benefits for me has been rheumatoid arthritis pain and inflammation. My knee, elbow, and fingers were getting pretty bad after my son was born in October. Post pregnancy hormones were starting to make the arthritic flare worse, but I didn’t want to start medication yet since I was still breastfeeding.
I continue to do red light one or two days per week and it has helped keep the inflammation low! I haven’t had to start back on medicine at this time.
It has also helped some stretch marks I have had since I was 17. I didn’t get any stretch marks during pregnancy, so these are pretty old marks. I had some on my hip area. After doing red light, they have drastically reduced in appearance.
There is one deeper wrinkle on my forehead I developed after Amelia was born, and after doing red light continually, it has faded a lot too.
Last, my eczema has not been as bad. In fact, I had a little eczema outbreak on my face last month, I did red light after it popped up and it helped with inflammation.
Check With Your Doctor To See If You Can Benefit From This:
I have actually had two doctors recommend red light to me, so this is why I started using it. My orthopedic surgeon recommended it to me after knee surgery, and my rheumatologist also recommended it many years ago for my joints. Always check with your personal doctor to see what they say.
Several friends of mine see a dermatologist, and the dermatologist has also recommended it.
I am thankful I found it because it has been a huge blessing for me!

Alexis, you mentioned you did some red light therapy at home prior to the full body treatment. Where did you get your at home red light machine? Are they very expensive?
Alexis says
I use a home lamp! Here is the post I did about it before. I bought mine from amazon (linked in the post), and it still works all the years later with the same bulb 🙂
