Today I would like to share some great information on why you need to start using a moist heating pad!
Heating pads are such a lifesaver, but especially in the winter!
If you suffer from joint pain like I do, you probably have a heating pad sitting around the house or even plugged in ready to go at all times. I have one in my room ready to go all winter long. There have been dozens of heating pads I have tried, but most leave me a little irritated for a variety of reasons.
Last month, I had the opportunity to try this moist heating pad.
I don’t share many products with my readers unless it is something that I can’t live without. Well, this is one of those products!!
Pin This to Save: Why You Need to Start Using a Moist Heating Pad
This winter has been tough on my joints. By night, I just can’t wait to get into bed to turn a heating pad on my knees. The minute I tried this moist heating pad, I was really impressed with how much deeper I could feel the heat.
I’ve always loved moist heat for therapy on my knee. When I did physical therapy a few years ago, they would heat up wet towels, then wrap my knees in them. WOW! That was incredible.
Moist heat isn’t just for joint pain though. It can work for muscles, tendons, bruises, and more.
What is a moist heating pad?
A moist heating pad draws moisture from the air when it is on with a negative ion emission. What this means is, you experience a damp, wet therapeutic heat coming from the heating pad. You might wonder if this means you will get your clothes wet? No, it doesn’t produce that much moisture. Just enough to get the benefits!
Here are some reasons why you need to start using a moist heating pad:
Deeper Relief
Like I mentioned above, a moist heating pad will deliver a deeper treatment versus dry heat. This is beneficial for all types of aches and pains!
Moist heating pads work quicker
It is a scientific fact that moist heat will work quicker than dry heat. When you need relief, the quicker the better!
Moist heat won’t dry out your skin
Dry heating pads can draw out moisture from skin which can leave it dry.
The Best Moist Heating Pad
I am very impressed with this one! It is the best moist heating pad on Amazon because it works so well and it is so big! Here are more reasons I have been enjoying it:
This heating pad isn’t stiff!
One of the things I dislike most about heating pads is how stiff they are initially. It doesn’t sound like that big of a deal, but when you have a problem joint like an elbow (one of my biggest issues!), stiff heating pads are impossible to apply until they are really hot. This heating pad is made from sand, so it is flexible and easy to apply right away. HUGE bonus!
It covers a large surface area
Something I immediately loved about this heating pad was how large it was. Since I need to treat both of my knees, I usually have to plug in two heating pads two cover them. This one is so large, you can cover both knees and wrap underneath them. This means you can also cover your entire back from neck to tailbone. If you have back issues, this is really helpful.
Timer and temperature control
Having the ability to control the temperature is a really great feature. Especially if you prefer something a little warm, not necessarily hot. The timer is another great option. If you use one at night, you can set it to go off after a certain time.
You don’t have to actually use water
I mentioned above in physical therapy they used to warm wet towels to use on my joints. It was amazing, but also a little bit messy. Using water can be messy, and it will also hold heat only so long before it cools. This heating pad doesn’t require water, it draws moisture from the air. So, no mess and no cooling! This moist heating pad doesn’t need a microwave!

Wow… what a great item! I occasionally use a (dry) heating pad – and I know the dry skin effect, as well as the small coverage area. Something for me to consider. Would I need to have a towel between the pad and my skin, like regular heating pads?
Would you please check your post – the explanation/text under “MOIST HEAT WON’T DRY OUT YOUR SKIN” header seems to be missing something… it ends abruptly.
Thanks, Alexis!

You don’t need a towel or anything! It’s very soothing and feels nice on the skin! 🙂 I just checked..I think it was a messed up link, seems to be working now.

So…is “Moist Heating Pad’ the actual brand name of the product or do you mean heating pads that are moist? Where can I purchase it? (I live in Ontario, Canada). Can you tell me roughly how much they are? Thanks Alexis!
Patti
Alexis says
Hi Patti! A moist heating pad is the type of heat it produces. Instead of dry heat like traditional heating pads, this type creates a wet heat, so more therapeutic. The exact product I like is linked in this post, you can just click any of the links mentioned and it will lead you to the product on Amazon 🙂 I purchased this one from Amazon. I have never seen any locally before.

Hi Alexis, thanks for all you wonderful emails… they are very inspiring….
I wanted to ask if you checked the EMF on this heating pad.
I checked my regular ones and the EMF is so high, so I stopped using them and I just use the old hot water bottle….. thanks so much
Alexis says
I’m not sure on the exacts on the EMF for this heating pad, but it will be lower because it uses negative ions and draws moisture from the air. I can reach out to the company to see more details on this if you’d like!
Osnat says
That would be wonderful, thanks so much

I am in touch with them now! It is the weekend, so I hope to hear back soon.

Just wanted to update you! The engineers of this heating pad sent me the info “Our engineers said that the EMF it emits is 120V/60Hz and its electromagnetic compatibility is IEC60601-1”

Alexa,
Thank you for the recommendation for this moist heating pad. I’ve had both my knees replaced and they still hurt. I had disc replacement and my shoulders, arms and back really ache. I think arthritis has set back in a year later. I look forward to trying this in the evening.
Have a pleasant weekend,
Diana
