This DIY skinny hazelnut coffee creamer with cinnamon is going to be your new favorite thing to keep on hand!
Hazelnut is my absolute FAVORITE flavor for coffee. There is just something about it that matches incredibly well with the strong taste of coffee beans.
When I became a coffee drinker, it was kind of random. I was always a fan of the fragrance, but the taste was terrible. One day when I was 23, I woke up craving and needing a huge cup of coffee ASAP…it was super weird.
I have such an exact memory of that day too! I had just started another semester of college complete with physics, quantum chemistry and medicinal chemistry. Needless to say, I was staying up late each night and running on empty. It was like my body needed some serious caffeine.
Anyways, I really wanted hazelnut coffee creamer with my coffee, it just sounded amazing. I have been drinking it ever since 🙂 I had always hear rumors that chemists are crazy about their coffee…I guess it was only natural that I became addicted too 😉
Y’all know how I am all about reading the chemicals in everything…coffee creamer, unfortunately, has a ton of chemicals in it that make it really creamy & delicious.
DIY Skinny Hazelnut Coffee Creamer
I am crazy about this stuff! I have made it multiple times in the past few weeks and it is so delicious!
I have even added it to oatmeal, tea, and I even came up with another drink to share with you soon! If you like coffee cream, but like to keep it light and healthy, you will love this skinny hazelnut cinnamon coffee creamer! Bonus, you know exactly what is in to chemical wise 🙂 If you are interested in another awesome hazelnut drink, try this iced hazelnut chocolate coffee or the hot version!

DIY Skinny Hazelnut Cinnamon Coffee Creamer Ingredients
- 1 (12 oz) can fat-free evaporated milk (you can also use sweetened condensed for a creamier version, read below for dairy-free options)
- 1 cup unsweetened vanilla cashew milk (you can also use almond milk or regular, but regular milk won’t be as creamy!)
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1-2 tsp hazelnut extract (Learn how to make your own here)
- 1 tsp ground pink salt (why pink salt? → read about that here)
- 4 tbsp stevia, coconut sugar, or sweetener of your choice (use more or less to taste)
Directions:
- Add all the ingredients to a big mixing bowl and mix really well. I used the whisk attachment on my hand mixer to get it really frothy. You can just use a whisk if you want.
- To add to a cup of coffee, I would say a few tablespoons to start, but you may want more depending on your flavor preference.
This will keep in the fridge for a few weeks, but it probably won’t last that long!
Dairy-Free Options for Homemade Hazelnut Coffee Creamer
The main recipe for this is the evaporated milk. If you need a dairy-free option, simply switch the canned evaporated milk for a can of coconut milk! It will give it a very slight coconut flavor, but if you get a can of fat-free coconut milk, it will be almost unnoticeable in flavor.
Chemist Note For This Mixture:
Since this “mixture” contains a solution of solids and liquids, make sure you shake vigorously before each use!
I hope you get to try this out soon, and if you do, let me know how you like it! Are you a hazelnut fan? Follow us on Instagram for more fun drinks and tips!

I love hazelnut in my coffee too! I have a theory that if you like the smell of coffee, you will eventually become and addict, it’s what happened to me 🙂
Alexis says
I totally agree with you theory! I always loved the smell, but hated the taste…then one day, I was totally addicted!
Rebecca says
YAY!!! I love coffee creamer but I try to avoid carrageenan so this is wonderful! Now if you can tell me how to make heavy cream without carrageenan, I will be in love. Because I cannot find it anywhere on the store shelves! 😉
I will definitely be making this, this week. So glad to see your post on Christine Everyday, I’m a big science reader but typically my blog reads are not related – I’m so interested in checking yours out!
Alexis says
I hate how products always add carrageenan to make it creamier and thicker! I am so happy you came by Rebecca! I love chemistry and being a chemist has helped me with some great research like healthier recipes (and coffee in all forms lol!) I hope you will come back to read often 🙂 I have a fun new series I am sharing tomorrow that I can’t wait to start!
Tab says
How many calories per tbsp?
Alexis says
1 tbsp of fat free evaporated milk has 12.5 calories in it. Everything else has little to no calories, so it would be about this for this mixture.
