Friday Favorites – So Over This Texas Heat!

Friday Favorites - Morning coffee at sunrise. So over this Texas heat!

First week of August, and I am so over this Texas heat! Constant 103 degree days with insane humidity get old by this time of year!

The best time of the day is early in the morning. It is still hot, but the sun isn’t up yet. I love having my coffee outside watching the sunrise. It is so peaceful and quite. Ruger loves when I do this so he can play outside. He hates the heat too, so the mornings are his favorite 🙂

I spent some time this week updating some old blog posts with photos and more information. It surprised me, but one of the most popular posts on Chemistry Cachet is this one about removing labels from jars like a chemist. It gets so many views each day, so I updated it with some better photos. I also get readers emailing me saying this is like magic. It works so well on everything! Another favorite everyone loved this week was my homemade air freshener!

The heat is hard on Ruger’s allergies, so we had to take him to the vet this week. He gets really bad allergy like rashes in his ears. I was SHOCKED to see that he now weighs 87 pounds.  He is the biggest English Bulldog ever! I asked the vet if this was typical and she said he just has insanely good genetics for an English Bulldog. He thinks he is still a little puppy, so he sits in my lap…

Friday Favorites - So over this Texas heat!

This roasted peach ice cream (dairy -free!)from Monday has quickly become our favorite summer dessert. I made another batch because it went so fast. It is SO good! The peaches are so delicious right now too.

Friday Favorites - So over this Texas heat!

I can’t believe my little brother turned 23 on Wednesday! How is that possible? That means I am getting way too old lol. I made him a gluten-free white confetti cake with just some vanilla glaze and he loved it. My brother isn’t a fan of sweets, so this was just a basic cake. It was delicious though!

I am busy working on a new project this weekend for the blog. I can’t wait to share more details soon. Follow me on snapchat (@ alexisroch) for more behind the scenes on that 🙂

Have a great weekend!

    1. It works so well! I like to do the same thing, sometimes I am shocked to see a post getting hits that is so old!

  3. Updating old blog posts can be tedious, but very worthwhile too! That’s great you still get a lot of hits! Enjoy your weekend girlfriend!

    1. It is definitely worthwhile! Especially when I look back on how unprofessional some of my early ones were lol. You too!

  4. Happy Birthday to your brother! Roxy doesn’t do well in the heat either *love our bulldogs*, so she enjoys being outside in the mornings and the evenings too. As much as the heat can feel oppressive sometimes, after growing up in the northeast, I’m thankful to have mega heat instead of bone chilling cold! Happy Friday gurlie <3

  5. Happy Friday Alexis! It’s been a long week and so glad for te weekend. I cannot imagine living in such intense hot weather; I think I would go nuts. Luckily it’s been in the mid 70s this week – makes me and my crazy skin happy. I feel Ruger’s discomfort about itches. Hope he is on the mend. Have a great weekend!
