Smells are among the most powerful elements to conjure up memories. Each season is full of unique and precious scents that can instantly transport us back to another place in time.

Autumn is such an enchanting time of year full of unmistakable scents that are sure to put a smile on your face as you remember autumnal experiences from the past. The words crisp, cozy, spice, pumpkin and dreamy lighting instantly speak perfect autumn day to me. The true beauty of a scent is the experience it can create.

My childhood friend and I have a tradition every fall. We set a date each year around this time to celebrate the season and remember 20 years of fall experiences we’ve had. Our annual harvest carnival in elementary, playing in the leaves, baking pumpkin cookies, football games, the fair, crisp autumn walks at the park, coffee dates downtown, traveling to the closet pumpkin patch and endless adventures in our friendship each fall.

How To Create the Perfect Fall Day Inside

Step 1: The Smells!

The key to creating the absolute perfect fall day in your home is the smells! A new Kroger just opened up down the road so I stopped in to pick up some fall scents!

Step 2: Lighting

An autumn day is full of pumpkins and leaves. Placing little details of this around the house bring out the cozy autumn ambiance.

Step 3: Music

This is the perfect time of year to remember autumn experiences with your dearest friends and create new ones at the same time. Sitting on the couch with my best friend, chatting about those crisp autumn memories with the scents of fall floating all around us is a great day!
