It has been awhile since we’ve shared a reading list with you, so today we have a great one full of the best beach and poolside books to read this summer!
When it comes to summer reading, I like a few different types of books. Fast reads, light reads, mysteries, and anything that doesn’t take much concentration. It is hard to read something to detailed by the beach or pool, so light is best.
These are all the books I am reading this summer, and a few I am taking with me this week to the beach! I can’t wait to get our vacation started and spend some time relaxing by the water!
Pin This: Fun Beach & Poolside Reads for Summer
Cover her Face by P.D James
I love British mysteries, especially old ones. This was published in the 60s, and has great writing with a good mystery. It is a short book, easy to read, but also enjoyable! This is the first book in this series, and I have heard the others are even better.
The House on Tradd Street
This book is also part of a series. In the summer, nothing beats a southern mystery especially one that has a historical home and set. A great type of book to read by the water!
The opening line to this book sold me right away, “Pewter reflections of scarlet colored hibiscus colored the dirt-smudged windows of the old house.”
The Invisible Library
I love a fun adventurous fantasy book for summer! This is not typically a genre I read on a normal basis, but after reading Night Circus a few summer’s ago and loving it, I have been looking for something else along these lines. This book is just a fun read for summer.
The All-Girl Filling Station’s Last Reunion: A Novel
If you love Fried Green Tomatoes, you will love this book! It is by the same author and full of the same southern charm, perfect for summer!
All By Myself, Alone: A Novel
I have been reading Mary Higgins Clark novels since I was in high school. My mom had her first book on the bookshelf at home, so I started reading it one night and COULD NOT STOP lol. I read the entire book that night. After that, I would only read her books for years. I still love to read her novels, and was excited to see this new book of hers! I don’t typically read new releases, but had to make an exception.
Radio Girls
The 1920s is one of my favorite eras, and I love learning about women’s lives and careers from that time period. This one is set in 1926 England at British Broadcasting Corporation. This is a fun book to read over summer especially poolside 🙂
Back in the Saddle
Although I’m not typically a romance book reader, this is more of a faith based christian novel. It’s about a cowboy who has been gone from his home for many years. He comes back after losing his job, and finds his father’s health failing. The character has a huge chip on his shoulder which he is overcoming with some unexpected paths.
This was a different story to read, and I found it very simple and uplifting. Each character was easy to relate to and very much like people I know personally. The heart-warming ending was a great touch too.
Super easy to read on the beach!
